ETOD - Energy Technology Open Day 2026
On November 5th, at 2:15 PM, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), the third edition of the Energy Technology Open Day – ETOD 2026 – will take place under the theme: Accelerating the Energy Transition: From Innovation to Implementation.
Organised by INESC TEC, ETOD 2026 offers an opportunity to interact with leading experts, explore cutting-edge research and technologies, and discover new collaboration opportunities aimed at accelerating the transition to a more sustainable, digital, and resilient energy future.
One of the highlights of this year's ETOD is the round table, moderated by João Peças Lopes, head of business development related to energy at INESC TEC, which will feature four expert speakers on the topic, namely:
- João Galamba – former Minister of Infrastructure, strategic consultant at Enline and director of PragmaCharge in Portugal;
- António Vidigal – President of EDP Inovação, independent consultant and specialist in energy and ICT;
- Nuno Silva – CTO of Efacec, co-founder of the German company GridData and Head of Manufacturing at ENODA;
- Pedro Verdelho – university professor at IST and president of ERSE (Energy Services Regulatory Authority) and CEER (Council of European Energy Regulators).
The agenda also includes:
- A session showcasing international projects driving the energy transition;
- A session focusing on advanced consulting services that INESC TEC is currently able to provide;
- A session showcasing real-world demonstration opportunities, open to national and international partners, suitable for technologies serving the purpose of digitizing and decarbonizing the economy, such as ocean energy generation or artificial intelligence applied to energy resource management;
- A pitch session where INESC TEC researchers will present five relevant projects.
At the end of the event, a networking session will take place alongside a technological showcase of solutions developed by INESC TEC researchers for the energy sector, along with information on services and demonstration platforms.
