CoARA National Chapters Exchange Forum

CoARA - Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment - is an international initiative that emerged in December 2022 and brings together more than 600 entities from 46 countries, including Portugal, with the aim of implementing a systemic reform of the assessment of research, researchers and research organisations. The proposed changes cover different areas, from recruitment and career progression, to financing and evaluation of researchers, projects and institutions, or the publication of scientific articles.

It is in this sense that INESC TEC, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and Science Europe came together to organise the “CoARA National Chapters Exchange Forum”, the first event that aims to explore collaboration opportunities between the members of this alliance , taking place on the 22nd and 23rd of February, at Alfândega do Porto.

Considering the contexts of different countries, CoARA contemplates the creation of National Chapters, which support the implementation of the agreement's commitments at national and regional level, and which promote the articulation and collaboration of entities in the respective countries. Currently, 11 national sections are established, with the Portuguese section being prepared, in a process that has been coordinated by the FCT. This event will thus give a stage to the different national sections that already exist and are in preparation, so that they can share knowledge and experiences, addressing topics such as local contexts and motivations for starting a section or reflections on challenges and good practices.

Call for proposals

In 2023, CoARA launched a call for members to form National Sections. This call is continuous and therefore members are invited to participate under the conditions described in the call document and to submit their application via the dedicated online form.
