A proposal to delegate GUI implementation using a source code based model

Abstract
In this paper we propose an architecture whose main goal is to improve productivity in user interface development for data-intensive applications. This objective is to be achieved by defining a high level model that describes the user interface structure. That model will be integrated in the source code through non-functional language extensions. Our final goal is allowing developers to define user interface model by adding language extensions to the source code and then acquiring an external software package to which they delegate the implementation of the concrete user interface. Collaborative business processes integration and management - Lessons learned from industry

Abstract
Economic factors and developments of information and communication technologies have forced SMEs to engage in new organizational structures. The emergent process oriented collaborative networks require integration between distributed and heterogeneous infrastructures. The aim of this article is to present the approach for business process integration and management developed for the footwear sector within the scope of an EU project. Lessons learned and an agenda for future research work are then described. A brief overview of relevant enabling technologies is also made.

Automatic ortho-rectification of ASTER images by matching digital elevation models

Abstract
The ortho-rectification of satellite images is normally a time-consuming and expensive task. It can strongly benefit from automatic or semiautomatic procedures in order to avoid field work for ground control survey. This article presents an automated method to automatically georeference satellite images acquired by the ASTER sensor. The method is based on automatic matching of images and Digital Elevation Models (DEM). First a DEM is extracted from the two stereo image bands, which then is matched to the SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) DEM in order to correct its position in a map reference system. This allows for the simultaneous correction of image geo-location, which then is followed by the ortho-rectification. The method was applied to an ASTER image from North Portugal and assessed using topographic map data. It was possible to geo-reference images in hilly terrain with positional accuracy better than one pixel.

Incremental discretization, application to data with concept drift

Abstract
In this paper we present a method for incremental discretization able to be adapted to gradual changes in the target concept. The proposed method is based on the Partition incremental Discretization (PiD for short). The algorithm divides the discretization task in two layers. The first layer receives the sequence of input data and retains some statistics of the data using more intervals than required. The second layer computes the final discretization, based in the statistics stored by the first layer. The method is able to process streaming examples in a single scan, in constant time and space even for infinite sequences of examples. In dynamic environments the target concept can gradually change over time. Past examples may not reflect the actual status of the problem. To accommodate concept drift we use an exponential decay that smoothly reduces the importance of older examples. Experimental evaluation on a benchmark problem for drift environments, clearly illustrates the benefits of the weighting examples technique.
