The city of Porto welcomed for three weeks – 7 to 14 of October - Stephan Baumann, an artist/scientist from the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) who used this city as stage for the development of the Urban Sync. The project took place in the context of the SID project (Sonic Interaction Design - www.cost-sid.org) where INESC Porto’s Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM) is currently participating.

The fourth general meeting of the VISNET-II Excellence network took place at the IST in Lisbon on 14, 15 and 16 May. Seven researchers from the Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM) participated in this event.

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) approved six R&D projects from the Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM). Among these projects, we highlight "Acoustic Analysis and Speech Aerodynamics in patients suffering from Unilateral Vocal Fold Paralysis (UVFP)", led by researcher Aníbal Ferreira.
