Abstract
The joining of TZP with Ti was attempted using Au or Au-Ti fillers at 1.065-1.100 degreesC. Several pre-treatment configurations were tested in order to achieve better wettability between the ceramic and the metal phase. The obtained ceramic/metallic interfaces are simple and comprise Ti oxides and Au-Ti intermetallics. Although Au looks promising as interlayer for biocompatible joints, its application as brazing agent in presence of Ti needs further development.

Abstract
Manufacturing systems are a stochastic, dynamic environment, with new jobs arriving continuously to the system, certain resources becoming unavailable and additional resources introduced. In order to support this particular environment in distributed manufacturing it is necessary to introduce new mechanisms to implement dynamic, distributed scheduling, specially to face disturbances. This paper presents an overview of the manufacturing scheduling problem and some techniques available to handle it. To solve the problem of stochastic, dynamic reaction to disturbances an adaptive control approach is described, based in the holonic manufacturing paradigm and the autonomy degree concept, which each operational holon uses to allow the balance between competition and cooperation.

Abstract
The MatPLC is an international project to create and distribute a program similar to a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) for POSIX Operating Systems, and licensed under the GNU Public License. Considerable effort has been put into designing a robust and scalable system, which includes novel features and capabilities not found in standard PLCs.

Abstract
Association rule engines typically output a very large set of rules. Despite the fact that association rules are regarded as highly comprehensible and useful for data mining and decision support in fields such as marketing, retail, demographics, among others, lengthy outputs may discourage users from using the technique. In this paper we propose a post-processing methodology and tool for browsing/visualizing large sets of association rules. The method is based on a set of operators that transform sets of rules into sets of rules, allowing focusing on interesting regions of the rule space. Each set of rules can be then seen with different graphical representations. The tool is web-based and uses SVG. Association rules are given in PMML.

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF COMPUTER INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING

Abstract
A concept and tool to support the technical and organizational development activities in agile, integrated enterprises are described. The drawbacks of conventional simulation model construction are discussed and the requirements for a collaborative tool based on simulation and conceptual modelling are described. The theoretical foundations of this tool are explained, focusing on a technical and organizational ontology. The features of the resulting system concerning conceptual modelling are presented together with the criteria to evaluate alternative scenarios based on the socio-technical premises. Finally, a practical application of the prototype tool is described, showing the usefulness of such a system in industrial innovation processes.

Solving the Revenue Reconciliation Problem of Distribution Network Providers Using Long-Term Marginal Prices

Abstract
We describe an integrated methodology to compute long-term marginal prices in distribution networks. Long-term marginal prices are considered the most interesting and economically sound way of allocating network costs to users. Additionally, they inherently deal with the revenue-reconciliation problem, as they generally do not require other large supplementary tariff terms. The proposed methodology uses fuzzy sets to model uncertainties in load forecasts and considers several criteria to guide the identification of solutions. At the end, there is a final decision-making step to select the most adequate expansion plan according to the preferences of the decision-maker.
