Optical current sensor based on metal coated Hi-Bi fiber loop mirror

Abstract
An optical current sensor based on a metal coated Hi-Bi fiber loop mirror is reported. This current sensor quantifies the current through the measurement of the temperature which varies accordingly with the magnitude of the electrical current. The temperature change is analyzed through the variation of the wavelength shift of a fringe minimum of a Hi-Bi fiber loop mirror. The minimum current detection was found to be approximately 10 A. Automatic generation of interactive prototypes for domain model validation

Abstract
This paper presents an approach to domain models validation with customers, end users and other stakeholders. From an early system model that represents the main domain (or business) entities in a UML class diagram, with classes, relationships, attributes and constraints, it is automatically generated an interactive form-based application prototype supporting the basic CRUD operations (create, retrieve, update and delete). The generated form-based user interface provides some features that are derived from the model's constraints and increase the prototype usability. This prototype allows the early validation of core system models, and can also be used as a basis for subsequent developments. The prototype generation process follows a model-driven development approach: the domain model, conforming to a defined domain meta-model, is first transformed to an application model, conforming to a defined application meta-model, based on a set of transformation rules; then a generator for a specific platform produces the executable files (currently, XUL and RDF files).

A model of approximations for representing time-varying multidimensional data

Abstract
The widespread use of new technologies for data acquisition and communications is disclosing large amounts of time-varying data that organizations wish to use for monitoring or decision support purposes. The efficient management of such large data sets depends largely on the use of appropriate data structures and access methods. This issue is an important topic of research in the spatiotemporal databases community. This paper presents a novel approach for the representation of large series of time-varying multidimensional data. It is based on a model of approximations that allows creating a hierarchical data structure by using different degrees of precision for each level. The hierarchical data structure allows representing an instance of a single series of discretely or continuously changing data as an abstract data type. The paper also shows how to use this approach to represent the movement of an object within a spatiotemporal database system.

Abstract
This paper describes an approach for integrating motion estimation and region clustering techniques with the purpose of obtaining precise multiple motion segmentation. Motivated by the good results obtained in static segmentation we propose a hybrid approach where motion segmentation is achieved within a region-based clustering approach taken the initial result of a spatial pre-segmentation and extended to include motion information. Motion vectors are first estimated with a multiscale variational method applied directly over the input images and then refined by incorporating segmentation results into a region-based warping scheme. The complete algorithm facilitates obtaining spatially continuous segmentation maps which are closely related to actual object boundaries. A comparative study is made with some of the best known motion segmentation algorithms. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
