Abstract
The study of evolution has become an important research issue; especially in the last decade, due to a greater awareness of our world's volatility. As a consequence, a new paradigm has emerged to respond more effectively to a elms of new problems in Data Mining. In this paper we address the problem of monitoring the evolution of clusters and propose the MClusT framework, which was developed along the lines of this new Change Mining paradigm. MClusT includes a taxonomy of transitions, a tracking method based in Graph Theory; and a transition detection algorithm. To demonstrate its feasibility and applicability we present; real world case studies, using datasets extracted from Banco de Portugal and the Portuguese Institute of Statistics. We also test our approach in a benchmark dataset from TSDL. The results are encouraging and demonstrate the ability of MClusT framework to provide an efficient diagnosis of clusters transitions.

Abstract
In this paper, it is presented a brief review of the sensing applications using photonic crystal fibres. Since the first publication, several authors have studied their properties and possible applications in engineering. Due to their geometry, the great potential in optical sensing is in bio and gas sensing. Recently, with the possibility of inscribing Bragg grating structures on these fibres, it is possible to use them for other applications. Finally, this paper reviews the recent works with different types of photonic crystal fibres for interferometry.

COLLABORATIVE NETWORKS FOR A SUSTAINABLE WORLD

Abstract
This paper describes an approach to the design of performance management models in collaborative networks, from a constructivist approach. The general approach is outlined and the part concerning a multi-criteria decision support method is explained. The paper finishes with an illustration of a scenario for test and validation of the method.

ELECTRIC POWER SYSTEMS RESEARCH

Abstract
This paper describes an approach to address the generation expansion-planning problem in order to help generation companies to decide whether to invest on new assets. This approach was developed in the scope of the implementation of electricity markets that eliminated the traditional centralized planning and lead to the creation of several generation companies competing for the delivery of power. As a result, this activity is more risky than in the past and so it is important to develop decision support tools to help generation companies to adequately analyse the available investment options in view of the possible behavior of other competitors. The developed model aims at maximizing the expected revenues of a generation company while ensuring the safe operation of the power system and incorporating uncertainties related with price volatility, with the reliability of generation units, with the demand evolution and with investment and operation costs. These uncertainties are modeled by pdf functions and the solution approach is based on Genetic Algorithms. Finally, the paper includes a Case Study to illustrate the application and interest of the developed approach.

COMPUTER VISION, IMAGING AND COMPUTER GRAPHICS: THEORY AND APPLICATIONS

Abstract
Nowadays, there is a wide range of commercial LBMS (Location-Based Mobile Services) available in the market, and a trend towards the display of 3D maps can be clearly observed. Given the complete disparity of ideas and a visible commercial orientation in the industry, the study of the visualization aspects that influence user performance and experience in the exploration of urban environments, using 3D maps, becomes an important issue. Based on a proposed conceptual framework, an online questionnaire was developed and administered in order to measure the real impact of each element. Combining the experimental results with the current state-of-the-art, a new visualization paradigm is defined in a dual specification: "layers" providing relevant visual content to the map, and "functions" providing the necessary functionality.
