Abstract
This paper presents the SIDE portal, which is an information system to support teaching, focused on academic management and teaching and learning processes, meeting the needs of integration of information flows from several university information systems. SIDE portal plays a fundamental role in the institution, enabling learning, evaluation and communication without space or time limitations, allowing to meet the challenges of higher education institutions - increase the education capacity and simultaneously be more efficient in academic management processes. © 2011 AISTI.

Abstract
Bidirectional and efficient on-board charger systems for electric vehicles is a challenge nowadays. This paper describes a novel power converter system that implements bidirectional flow between the grid and an electric vehicle battery, where a dual active bridge is advantageous. With a bidirectional topology and proper control all the major grid constraints, such as power quality, harmonic rejection, active and reactive power control, and others, can be easily satisfied. A hardware prototype of the power converter is built. Experimental results from this hardware prototype verify the preliminary operation and claims of the V2G power interface.

Abstract
Providing efficient access to information can be approached in different ways, but ultimately implies the creation of an INDEX, represented with an indexing language, like a TAXONOMY, a THESAURUS, an ONTOLOGY or a FOLKSONOMY. Each of these languages strikes a different balance between the effort to create and maintain the index, the effectiveness of knowledge capture, the guidance that readers can get, and how efficiently they can get it. Furthermore, in a world in which more and more information is available, two issues gain particular importance in the creation of an index: how can it be done collaborative, and how can the index abstract and express information more richly. © Copyright 2011 Carnegie Mellon University.

Abstract
A long-period grating written in the SMF-28 fibre was heat treated at 1000 degrees C for 15 days. The spectrum of the grating shifted to longer wavelengths and the resonances depth decreased as a result of structural relaxation. The background loss increased considerably for times longer than 200 h, and this loss is caused by devitrification of the fibre.

Abstract
Living Usability Lab for Next Generation Networks (www.livinglab.pt) is a Portuguese industry-academia collaborative R&D project, active in the field of live usability testing, focusing on the development of technologies and services to support healthy, productive and active citizens. The project adopts the principles of universal design and natural user interfaces (speech, gesture) making use of the benefits of next generation networks and distributed computing. Therefore, it will have impact on the general population, including the elderly and citizens with permanent or situational special needs. This paper presents project motivations, conceptual model, architecture and work in progress.
