Abstract
In this paper, we present an approach to control an autonomous underwater vehicle in the vertical and the horizontal planes while pitching down or up (theta = +/-pi/2). Such a capability is explored in MARES, a small-sized, torpedo-shaped hovering AUV with four degrees of freedom. Despite the fact that roll angle is not controllable, we find a guidance law that makes the vehicle reach any point in the horizontal plane while maintaining the vehicle in the vertical position.

Renewable Energy and Power Quality Journal

Abstract
Considering the current global economic situation and the rising energy costs, all contributions to the reduction in energy consumption will be relevant. In electrical installations, energy consumption can be reduced by reducing losses in the conductors, associated with the efficiency of equipments, allowing a better use of the installed power, which can be an important issue when using renewable energies. The losses in the conductors are proportional to the square of the resistance and current. These must be analysed in conjunction with all loads that contribute to the current in the sections of the installation. When replacing equipment in distribution boxes output by more efficient ones, the current decreases in sections covered with the most significant power loss due to proportionality with the square of the current. This decrease, often forgotten, is recorded in this work and included in the investment analysis on efficiency and sustainable electrical equipment. This analysis, combined with the features and operating parameters of electrical installation, accounts for all the gains that can make a difference in the choice of efficient equipment.

NEW MEDIA & SOCIETY

Abstract
This research explores teenagers' knowledge representation of six digital technologies - email, IM, internet, digital photos, sms and games. Instead of pre-imposing a specific structure, teens freely express everything they consider relevant by identifying the meanings associated with each digital technology. Drawing on cognitive psychology theories and teenagers' social development theories, the data from thirteen focus groups were analyzed. The nature of attributes comprising technical features, personal and socially relevant activities/experiences, feelings and attitudes towards these instruments only partially matched other IT conceptualizations. However, those studies applied different methodological approaches. Among the 133 attributes suggested, 30 were shared by at least two digital technologies. The Multiple Correspondence Analysis showed that games were psychologically and functionally (physical attributes) more integrated with IM and internet whereas digital photos were segregated. The communicational and product design implications of assessing attributes are discussed.

Abstract
For the first time, a high-resolution hyperspectral single-pixel imaging system based on compressive sensing is presented and demonstrated. The system integrates a digital micro-mirror device array to optically compress the image to be acquired and an optical spectrum analyzer to enable high spectral resolution. The system's ability to successfully reconstruct images with 10 pm spectral resolution is proven. (C) 2012 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE). [DOI: 10.1117/1.OE.51.7.071406]

Handbook of Research on Serious Games as Educational, Business and Research Tools

Abstract
Serious games are playing an increasing role as educational tools and the last decade witnessed a growing number of proposals in this field. One of the major challenges of the current European societies is to foster an entrepreneurial interest in young people, and the European Commission has been promoting projects that pursue this objective. This chapter presents one such project, PLAYER, in which an educational game was implemented in Facebook with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship by guiding young people in the definition of a business proposal. The game encompasses 4 stages that include the basic description of the business idea, the characterization of its strategies, the filling of a funding quiz, the SWOT analysis, and finally the production of a detailed business plan, for those players to be able to reach the final stage of the game. © 2012, IGI Global.
