EDULEARN19: 11TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON EDUCATION AND NEW LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES
Abstract
In this paper, a game interface for children with learning difficulties designed to enable learning and training the interaction with a QWERTY keyboard, therefore enhancing digital literacy and inclusion, is presented. Specifically, the interface presented writing activities with several difficulty levels, from monosyllabic to polysyllabic words, allowing the training with the QWERTY Keyboard. To assess usability of the interface we performed a preliminary user test with ten children with learning disabilities and it was register the following usability variables: efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction. The main results showed that children improved their performance with the keyboard throughout the activities but showed spelling difficulties in higher difficulty levels. These difficulties were not in interaction with the QWERTY keyboard but in the word spelling. Still, all conclude tasks with success, no one dropout.

Energies
Abstract
This paper presents an integrated approach for assessing the impact that distributed energy resources (DERs), including intermittent photovoltaic (PV) generation, might have on the reliability performance of power networks. A test distribution system, based on a typical urban MV and LV networks in the UK, is modelled and used to investigate potential benefits of the local renewable generation, demand-manageable loads and coordinated energy storage. The conventional Monte Carlo method is modified to include time-variation of electricity demand profiles and failure rates of network components. Additionally, a theoretical interruption model is employed to assess more accurately the moment in time when interruptions to electricity customers are likely to occur. Accordingly, the impact of the spatio-temporal variation of DERs on reliability performance is quantified in terms of the effect of network outages. The potential benefits from smart grid functionalities are assessed through both system- and customer-oriented reliability indices, with special attention to energy not supplied to customers, as well as frequency and duration of supply interruptions. The paper also discusses deployment of an intelligent energy management system to control local energy generation-storage-demand resources that can resolve uncertainties in renewable-based generation and ensure highly reliable and continuous supply to all connected customers.

OCEAN ENGINEERING
Abstract
The design, development and deployment of autonomous sustainable ocean platforms for exploration and monitoring can provide researchers and decision makers with valuable data, trends and insights into the largest ecosystem on Earth. Although these outcomes can be used to prevent, identify and minimise problems, as well as to drive multiple market sectors, the design and development of such platforms remains an open challenge. In particular, energy efficiency, control and robustness are major concerns with implications for autonomy and sustainability. Rigid wingsails allow autonomous boats to navigate with increased autonomy due to lower power consumption and increased robustness as a result of mechanically simpler control compared to traditional sails. These platforms are currently the subject of deep interest, but several important research problems remain open. In order to foster dissemination and identify future trends, this paper presents a survey of the latest developments in the field of rigid wing sailboats, describing the main academic and commercial solutions both in terms of hardware and software.

2019 6TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CONTROL, DECISION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES (CODIT 2019)
Abstract
The paper deals with a robust constrained control based on extended state observer (ESO) and state controller design using integral plant models of step-wise increasing complexity. The presented approach is used to enforce and consolidate the student's skills by repeating the state observer and state controller design for several modifications of the plant model. Importance of the control design evaluation by appropriate performance measures is also stressed. Thereby, this approach may help in discovering new interesting properties of this type of control.

ADVANCES IN WEB-BASED LEARNING - ICWL 2019
Abstract
In this article we propose an automatic system that informs students of abnormal deviations of a virtual learning path that leads to the best grades in the course. Our motivation is based on the fact that by obtaining this information earlier in the semester, may provide students and educators an opportunity to resolve an eventual problem regarding the student's current online actions towards the course. Our goal is therefore to prevent situations that have a significant probability to lead to a pour grade and, eventually, to failing. Our methodology can be applied to online courses that integrate the use of an online platform that stores user actions in a log file, and that has access to other student's evaluations. The system is based on a data mining process on the log files and on a self-feedback machine learning algorithm that works paired with the Moodle LMS. Our results shown that it is possible to predict grade levels by only taking interaction patterns in consideration.
