Abstract
Timeline summarization (TLS) is a challenging research task that requires researchers to distill extensive and intricate temporal data into a concise and easily comprehensible representation. This paper proposes a novel approach to timeline summarization using Abstract Meaning Representations (AMRs), a graphical representation of the text where the nodes are semantic concepts and the edges denote relationships between concepts. With AMR, sentences with different wordings, but similar semantics, have similar representations. To make use of this feature for timeline summarization, a two-step sentence selection method that leverages features extracted from both AMRs and the text is proposed. First, AMRs are generated for each sentence. Sentences are then filtered out by removing those with no named-entities and keeping the ones with the highest number of named-entities. In the next step, sentences to appear in the timeline are selected based on two scores: Inverse Document Frequency (IDF) of AMR nodes combined with the score obtained by applying a keyword extraction method to the text. Our experimental results on the TLS-Covid19 test collection demonstrate the potential of the proposed approach.

Abstract
Bone cements based on poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) are primarily used in joint replacement surgeries. In the fixation of joint replacement, the self-curing cement fills constitutes a very important interface. To under-stand and improve the interaction between cortical bone and bone cement it is essential to characterize the mechanical properties of cement-bone bonded joints in full detail. In this study, the end-notched flexure test was used in the context of pure mode II fracture characterisation of cement-bone bonded joints. A data reduction scheme based on crack equivalent concept was employed to overcome the difficulties inherent to crack length monitoring during damage propagation. A finite element method combined with a cohesive zone model was first used to validate numerically the adopted method. The procedure was subsequently applied to experimental results to determine the fracture toughness of cement-bone bonded joints under pure mode II loading. The consistency of the obtained results leads to the conclusion that the adopted procedure is adequate to carry out fracture characterisation of these joints under pure mode II loading. The innovative aspect of the present work lies in the application of cohesive zone modelling approach to PMMA-based cement-bone bonded joints.

Abstract
This article addresses the 3-D localization of a stand-alone acoustic beacon based on the Principle of Synthetic Baseline using a single receiver on board a surface vehicle. The process only uses the passive reception of an acoustic signal with no explicit synchronization, interaction, or communication with the acoustic beacon. The localization process exploits the transmission of periodic signals without synchronization to a known time reference to estimate the time-of-arrival (ToA) with respect to an absolute time basis provided by the global navigation satellite system (GNSS). We present the development of the acoustic signal acquisition system, the signal processing algorithms, the data processing of times-of-arrival, and an estimator that uses times-of-arrival and the coordinates where they have been collected to obtain the 3-D position of the acoustic beacon. The proposed approach was validated in a real field application on a search for an underwater glider lost in September 2021 near the Portuguese coast.

Abstract
The digitisation of administrative tasks and processes is a reality nowadays, translating into added value such as agility in process management, or simplified access to stored data. The digitisation of processes of decision-making in collegiate bodies, such as Academic Councils, is not yet a common reality. Voting acts are still carried out in person, or at most in online meetings, without having a real confirmation of the vote of each element. This is particularly complex to achieve in remote meeting scenarios, where connection breaks or interruptions of audio or video streams may exist. A new digital platform was already previously proposed. It considered decision-making, by voting in Academic Councils, to be supported by a system that guarantees the integrity of the decisions taken, even when meeting online. Our previous work mainly considered the overall design. In this work, we bettered the design and specification of our previous proposal and describe the implemented prototype, and validate and discuss the obtained results.
