A folk theorem for games when frequent monitoring decreases noise

Abstract
This paper studies frequent monitoring in an infinitely repeated game with imperfect public information and discounting, where players observe the state of a continuous time Brownian process at moments in time of length ?. It shows that a limit folk theorem can be achieved with imperfect public monitoring when players monitor each other at the highest frequency, i.e., 0. The approach assumes that the expected joint output depends exclusively on the action profile simultaneously and privately decided by the players at the beginning of each period of the game, but not on ?. The strong decreasing effect on the expected immediate gains from deviation when the interval between actions shrinks, and the associated increase precision of the public signals, make the result possible in the limit. © 2012 Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co. Endogenous computation of conjectured supply functions with network constraints

Abstract
This paper presents a new iterative algorithm to compute a conjectured supply function electricity market equilibrium with DC transmission network constraints. This approach extends, to a network constrained system, a model previously developed by the authors for the single-bus case. At each iteration nodal prices are used to split the market into single prices areas. Since each area can be treated as a single-bus market from the transmission constraints' point of view, the single-bus algorithm is applied to compute the generators supply functions for each area. These new generators strategies are then cleared to determine new nodal prices and areas for the next iteration, and convergence is achieved when the network lines status and strategies of the generators do not change significantly in two consecutive iterations. The current approach has also been extended to deal with nodal elastic demands. Unlike previous approaches, the main contribution of this work is that the parameters of the first order approximation of the conjectured supply functions (intercepts and slopes) are endogenously determined, coherently with the network lines status. The algorithm has been applied to some illustrative case examples, and to a simplified version of the MIBEL market (Spain-Portugal). Results have shown to be very close to real data, and very relevant to analyze the economic impact of the capacity network constraints.

Orchestration of E-Learning Services for Automatic Evaluation of Programming Exercises

Abstract
Managing programming exercises require several heterogeneous systems such as evaluation engines, learning objects repositories and exercise resolution environments. The coordination of networks of such disparate systems is rather complex. These tools would be too specific to incorporate in an e-Learning platform. Even if they could be provided as pluggable components, the burden of maintaining them would be prohibitive to institutions with few courses in those domains. This work presents a standard based approach for the coordination of a network of e-Learning systems participating on the automatic evaluation of programming exercises. The proposed approach uses a pivot component to orchestrate the interaction among all the systems using communication standards. This approach was validated through its effective use on classroom and we present some preliminary results.

The Recognition of Web Pages' Hyperlinks by People with Intellectual Disabilities: An Evaluation Study

Abstract
Background One of the most mentioned problems of web accessibility, as recognized in several different studies, is related to the difficulty regarding the perception of what is or is not clickable in a web page. In particular, a key problem is the recognition of hyperlinks by a specific group of people, namely those with intellectual disabilities. Materials and Methods This experiment investigated a methodology based on the direct observation, video recording, interview and data obtained by an eye tracker device. Ten participants took part in this study. They were divided into two groups and asked to perform two tasks: Sing a song and Listen to a story in two websites. These websites were developed to include specific details. The first website presented an image navigation menu (INM), whereas the other one showed a text navigation menu (TNM). Results There was a general improvement regarding the participants' performance when using INMs. Conclusion The referred analysis indeed shows that not only did these specific participants gain a better understanding of the demanding task, but also they showed an improved perception concerning the content of the navigation menu that included hyperlinks with images.

Abstract
Simulation is a very useful tool to gather new information about an implemented model, because it can run artificial environments instead of putting in risk some entities that are influenced in the real process. The simulation of physical, chemical and biological processes in coastal ecosystems is used as a way to understand the system internal dynamics and to predict its evolution over time, in order to promote behaviors environmentally friendly and to induce effective and efficient management of the ecosystem as a whole. However, there are several ways of translating and interpreting the data provided by the simulation such as applying appropriate data mining models. This paper describes an approach that uses a Decision Tree model to produce intuitive information about the influence of several environmental variables on the growth conditions of bivalve species within an aquaculture exploration in a coastal ecosystem. This information is captured by relating the values of simulated variables, like water temperature or organic matter, with the length of the bivalve's shell, extrapolating information about the organic or physical conditions that increase or decrease the growth of the bivalve species, and guiding the stakeholders to locations for the best practice of the seeding process.
