Abstract
Collaborative conceptualisation processes are pervasive to most technical and professional activities, but are seldom addressed explicitly due to the lack of theoretical and practical methods and tools to support it. However, it seems not to be a popular research topic in knowledge representation or its sub-areas such as ontology engineering. Our view is that collaboration between stakeholders for specifying an ontology should be addressed at the conceptual, semi-formal level, in order to foster a collective learning of the domain and reaching agreements about its representation. We developed a method to support conceptual integration based in the conceptual blending theory - ColBlend - and implemented it in a collaborative modelling environment. This "conceptual modelling environment - conceptME" supports teams of specialist and facilitators in eliciting conceptual structures with the help of collaborative model editing and terminology services. Conceptual integration and agreements are achieved through the ColBlend method. This paper overviews ColBlend and ConceptME and describes in detail a test case.

Abstract
A simple nanostrain direct current (DC) measurement system based on a chirped Bragg grating Fabry-Perot (FP) structure is presented. The FP cavity, formed between the chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG) and the fiber end face, presents an aperiodic behavior due to the CFBG. A laser located in the fringe pattern slope is used to interrogate the sensing head. The optical power parameter is analyzed when strain is applied, for long and short period fringe pattern wavelengths, and sensitivities of -2.87 µW/µe and -5.48'µW/µe are respectively obtained. This configuration presents a resolution of 70 ne. © The Author(s) 2011.

Abstract
To address the need for evaluation techniques for complex business processes, also known as workflows, this paper proposes an approach based on generalized stochastic Petri nets (GSPNs). We review ten related approaches published in the last fifteen years and compare them to our approach using a wide range of criteria. On the basis of this evaluation, we observe that the newly proposed approach provides results that are at least as good as those from the most accepted alternatives and holds a number of additional advantages, such as modeling simplicity, improved precision, and model reuse for qualitative analyses. The overall approach is formally defined in this paper, along with the definition of several performance metrics. Part of these metrics can be computed analytically, while the remainder can be obtained by simulating the GSPN. Furthermore, a tool has been developed to translate automatically business process execution language processes into GSPNs. Finally, we present a case study in which we applied the proposed approach, colored Petri net tools, and an industrial tool to obtain performance insights into a realistic workflow. The results were highly similar, demonstrating the feasibility and the accuracy of our approach.

Abstract
Our study aimed to assess the impact of a six-months nutrition program, taught by trained teachers, on fruit and vegetable consumption among children in grades 1 to 4. Four hundred and sixty-four children (239 female), 6 to 12 years old, from seven elementary schools were assigned to this randomized trial. Teachers were trained by researchers over six months, according to the following topics: nutrition, healthy eating, and strategies to increase physical activity. After each session, teachers were encouraged to develop activities in the classroom on the topics learned. Children's sociodemographic, anthropometric, dietary, and physical activity data were assessed at baseline and at the end of the intervention. The effect sizes ranged between small (Cohen's d=0.12 on "other vegetables") to medium (0.56 on "fruit and vegetable"), and intervened children reported a significantly higher consumption of vegetables and fruit. Interventions involving trained teachers offer promise to increase consumption of fruit and vegetable in children. © 2012 Rafaela Rosário et al.

Abstract
We propose a methodology for flexible software design, runtime programming, by means of incremental software modifications at runtime. Runtime programming acknowledges that software designs are often incomplete, and require the flexibility of change, e.g., fixing bugs or introducing new features, without disruption of their service. This flexibility is much needed for critical software that generally needs to handle uncertainty, e.g. cloud computing or cyber-physical systems, due to dynamic requirements of composition, service, or performance. Runtime modifications should be allowed recurrently, and, thus, be handled as a common case of system functionality in predictable and efficient manner, with proper understanding of inherent functional and non-functional aspects. The work in many diverse research communities with related concerns typically tends to take a partial and domain-specific view of the problem, hence comprehensive and general methodologies are in order. In this extended abstract, we make a summary of the runtime programming proposal of [4]. The work follows up on a preliminary formulation of runtime programming [3], and work on modular compilation of real-time programs [2]. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
