Abstract
This paper addresses the problem of optimal, three-dimensional, localization of an acoustic pinger. Making use of acoustic receivers, the time-of-arrivals are computed and fused with their positions to estimate the target position. Motivated by practical applications where autonomous surface vehicles are employed to carry sensing equipment, these receivers are constrained to lie in a plane. The optimal configuration of sensors is derived by maximizing the determinant of the Fisher information matrix. A method to track and estimate the position of the target is proposed and implemented in a formation of four vehicles. Experimental results show very motivating results with successful estimates of the target position.

8TH IBEROAMERICAN OPTICS MEETING AND 11TH LATIN AMERICAN MEETING ON OPTICS, LASERS, AND APPLICATIONS

Abstract
A fiber optic sensor for high sensitivity refractive index and temperature measurement able to withstand temperature up to 450 degrees C is reported. Two identical LPG gratings were fabricated, whereas one was coated with a high refractive index (similar to 1.78) sol-gel thin film in order to increase its sensitivity to the external refractive index. The two sensors were characterized and compared in refractive index and temperature. Sensitivities of 1063 nm/RIU (1.338 - 1.348) and 260 pm/degrees C were achieved for refractive index and temperature, respectively.

COMMUNIST AND POST-COMMUNIST STUDIES

Abstract
Despite connections and common traits between geopolitics and International Business based on geography and location, literature on this matter is scarce. This study aims to contribute to this literature gap, by assessing the importance of Poland's geopolitical factors in FDI location decisions. By applying a hybrid methodology which combines qualitative and quantitative analyses we conclude that there is a connection between Poland's geopolitical factors (stable, variable and interactional) and the volume, origin and distribution of the FDI received.

Abstract
The convergence of personal devices, pervasive communication networks and remote computing has caused a fundamental shift in the user interaction paradigm. Multiple methods have enabled an implicit loop of interaction that goes beyond the traditional graphical interfaces. Human emotion is one of such dimensions, supporting the development of empathic systems. Thus, quality of user experience, a subjective measure, may be defined as the resulting affective state from an interaction, which can be dynamically assessed. In mobile ubiquitous settings, leveraging this affective interaction for providing personalisation and immersive digital services has the potential to significantly impact user experience. This paper investigates the relationship between user affect and experience in the context of urban public transport. © 2013 ACM.

Abstract
This document presents a tool able to automatically gather data provided by real energy markets and to generate scenarios, capture and improve market players' profiles and strategies by using knowledge discovery processes in databases supported by artificial intelligence techniques, data mining algorithms and machine learning methods. It provides the means for generating scenarios with different dimensions and characteristics, ensuring the representation of real and adapted markets, and their participating entities. The scenarios generator module enhances the MASCEM (Multi-Agent Simulator of Competitive Electricity Markets) simulator, endowing a more effective tool for decision support. The achievements from the implementation of the proposed module enables researchers and electricity markets' participating entities to analyze data, create real scenarios and make experiments with them. On the other hand, applying knowledge discovery techniques to real data also allows the improvement of MASCEM agents' profiles and strategies resulting in a better representation of real market players' behavior. This work aims to improve the comprehension of electricity markets and the interactions among the involved entities through adequate multi-agent simulation.
