Abstract
Overhead Power Distribution Lines (OPDLs) correspond to a large percentage of the medium-voltage electrical systems. In these networks, visual inspection activities are usually performed without resorting to automated systems, requiring a significant investment of time and human resources. We present a methodology to identify the defect and type of insulators using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). More than 2500 photographs were collected both from inside a studio and from a realistic OPDL. A classification model is proposed to automatically recognize the insulators conformity. This model is able to learn from indoors photographs by augmenting these images with realistic details such as top ties and real-world backgrounds. Furthermore, Multi-Task Learning (MTL) was used to improve performance of defect detection by also predicting the insulator class. The proposed methodology is able to achieve an accuracy of 92% for material classification and 85% for defect detection, with F1-score of 0.75, surpassing available solutions.

Abstract
Dissolved carbon dioxide (dCO2) evaluation is very important in many different fields. In this work, a new, integrated, colorimetric-optical fiber-based system for dCO2 monitoring in aquaculture industry was developed. The sensing chemistry is based on colorimetric changes of the used indicator—poly p-nitrophenol (pNPh)—in contact with CO2. Preliminary tests were done in a laboratory environment (calibration) and in a laboratory Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) with controlled CO2 injection. The results have shown the suitability of the new sensor for assessing dCO2 dynamics in RAS and its fast detection of low dCO2 concentrations in an appropriate operation range.

ARTECH 2019: 9th International Conference on Digital and Interactive Arts, Braga, Portugal, October 23-25, 2019

Abstract
The main goal of the conference is to promote the interest in the current digital culture and its intersection with art and technology as an important research field, and also to create a common space for discussion and exchange of new experiences. It seeks to foster greater understanding about digital arts and culture across a wide spectrum of cultural, disciplinary, and professional practices. To this end, many scholars, teachers, researchers, artists, comput-er professionals, and others who are working within the broadly defined areas of digital arts, culture and education across the world, submitted their innovative work to the conference. © 2019 ACM.

Handbook of Research on Corporate Restructuring and Globalization - Advances in Business Strategy and Competitive Advantage

Abstract
This chapter analyzes the retail banking behavior in Portugal for the period between 2008 and 2010. The data collection took place through the accounting consultation of the reports and accounts of the years under analysis. The selected variables reflect the strategic actions of retail banking during the period under analysis, and it can be argued that retail banking in Portugal has clear differences among players over time. In particular, banking institutions have different competitive strategies, the strategic groups do not have similar resources, and strategies also differ between strategic groups. This reflects the competitive structure of the national retail banking industry.

IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER SYSTEMS

Abstract
Triggered by the increased fluctuations of renewable energy sources, the European Commission stated the need for integrated short-term energy markets (e.g., intraday), and recognized the facilitating role that local energy communities could play. In particular, microgrids and energy communities are expected to play a crucial part in guaranteeing the balance between generation and consumption on a local level. Local energy markets empower small players and provide a stepping stone toward fully transactive energy systems. In this paper, we evaluate such a fully integrated transactive system by, first, modeling the energy resource management problem of a microgrid under uncertainty considering flexible loads and market participation (solved via two-stage stochastic programming), second, modeling a wholesale market and a local market, and, third, coupling these elements into an integrated transactive energy simulation. Results under a realistic case study (varying prices and competitiveness of local markets) show the effectiveness of the transactive system resulting in a reduction of up to 75% of the expected costs when local markets and flexibility are considered. This illustrates that how local markets can facilitate the trade of energy, thereby increasing the tolerable penetration of renewable resources and facilitating the energy transition.
