Abstract
This paper studies the role of electricity demand response program (EDRP) in the co-operation of the electric power systems and the natural gas transmission system to facilitate integration of wind power generation. It is known that time-based uncertainty modeling has a critical role in co-operation of electricity and gas systems. Also, the major limitation of the hourly discrete time model (HDTM) is its inability to handle the fast sub-hourly variations of generation sources. Accordingly, in this paper, this limitation has been solved by the operation of both energy systems with a continuous time model (CTM). Also, a new fuzzy information gap decision theory (IGDT) approach has been proposed to model the uncertainties of the wind energy. Numerical results on the IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) demonstrate the benefits of applying the continuous-time EDRP to improve the co-scheduling of both natural gas and electricity systems under wind power generation uncertainty.

Abstract
Large-scale compressed air energy storage (CAES) is conventionally used in power systems. However, application of CAESs at the distribution level is limited because of differences in design and efficiency. On the other hand, application of electrical batteries suited for distribution networks (DNs) faces also challenges from high investment cost and significant degradation. In this regard, this paper presents the participation of an active distribution system equipped with a small-scale CAES (SCAES) in the day-ahead wholesale market. To make CAES applicable to DNs, thermal-electrical setting design of the SCAES coupled with a packed-bed heat exchanger is adopted in the operation of the grid, where SCAES performs as an energy storage for DNs to surpass existing deficiencies of battery banks. The electrical/thermal conversion rate has been modeled for the SCAES operation. Moreover, the operation strategy of the SCAES is optimally coordinated with an electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) as an alternative energy storage technology in deregulated DNs. To make EVCS simulation more realistic, Gaussian Copula probability distribution function is used to model the behavior of the EVCS. The results obtained from different case studies confirm the value of SCAES as a reliable energy storage technology for DNs.

Abstract
The uncertainty of wind energy makes wind power producers (WPPs) incur profit/loss due to balancing costs in electricity markets, a phenomenon that restricts their participation in markets. This paper proposes a stochastic bidding strategy based on virtual power plants (VPPs) to increase the profit of WPPs in short-term electricity markets in coordination with energy storage systems and demand response. To implement the stochastic solution strategy, the Kantorovich method is used for scenario generation and reduction. The optimization problem is formulated as a Mixed-Integer Linear Programming problem. From testing the proposed method for a Spanish WPP, it is inferred that the proposed method enhances the profit of the VPP compared to previous models.

Abstract
This paper investigates the risk-oriented multi-area economic dispatch (MAED) problem with high penetration of wind farms (WFs) combined with compressed air energy storage (CAES). The main objective is to help system operators to minimize the operational cost of thermal units and CAES units with an appropriate level of security through optimized WF power generation curtailment strategy and CAES charging/discharging control. In the obtained MAED model, several WFs integrated with CAES units are considered in different generation zones, and the probability to meet demand by available spinning reserve during N - 1 security contingency is characterized as a risk function. Furthermore, the contribution of CAES units in providing the system spinning reserve is taken into account in the MAED model. The proposed framework is demonstrated by a case study using the modified IEEE 40-generator system. The numerical results reveal that the proposed method brings a significant advantage to the efficient scheduling of thermal units' power generation, WF power curtailment, and CAES charging/discharging control in the power system.

Abstract
In this work, a generalized mathematical formulation is proposed to model a generic public transport system, and a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) optimization is used to determine the optimal design of the system in terms of charging infrastructure deployment (with on-route and off-route charging), battery sizing, and charging schedules for each route in the network. Three case studies are used to validate the proposed model while demonstrating its universal applicability. First, the design of three individual routes with different characteristics is demonstrated. Then, a large-scale generic transport system with 180 routes, consisting of urban and suburban routes with varying characteristics is considered and the optimal design is obtained. Afterwards, the use of the proposed model for a long-term transport system planning problem is demonstrated by adapting the system to a 2030 scenario based on forecasted technological advancements. The proposed formulation is shown to be highly versatile in modeling a wide variety of components in an electric bus (EB) transport system and in achieving an optimal design with minimal TOC.

Abstract
The large-scale penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) into the power system will provoke new challenges needed to be handled by distribution system operators (DSOs). Demand response (DR) strategies play a key role in facilitating the integration of each new asset into the power system. With the aid of the smart grid paradigm, a day-ahead charging operation of large-scale penetration of EVs in different regions that include different aggregators and various EV parking lots (EVPLs) is propounded in this study. Moreover, the uncertainty of the related EV owners, such as the initial state-of-energy and the arrival time to the related EVPL, is taken into account. The stochasticity of PV generation is also investigated by using a scenario-based approach related to daily solar irradiation data. Last but not least, the operational flexibility is also taken into consideration by implementing peak load limitation (PLL) based DR strategies from the DSO point of view. To reveal the effectiveness of the devised scheduling model, it is performed under various case studies that have different levels of PLL, and for the cases with and without PV generation.
