COLLABORATION IN A HYPERCONNECTED WORLD

Abstract
The past decades have been characterized by an increasing interest of companies in international trade and significant foreign direct investments, which led to a shift from localized manufacturing companies to global manufacturing networks. The main goal of this research is to analyze the management of information within the process of supplier selection in the context of manufacturing networks. The adoption of field study methodology allows understanding how the supplier selection process is carried out in Multinational Companies (MNCs) in different manufacturing sectors. In particular, this paper aims at identifying the information that mother company and their subsidiary companies share during the supplier selection process, and how they access to this information.

Global Business Expansion: Concepts, Methodologies, Tools, and Appl.

Abstract
The emergence of complex supply chains is one of the most important consequences of globalization. The management of these supply chains requires increased efforts by organizations that, on one hand, are increasingly pressured by customers in terms of service levels, on the other hand, must manage their suppliers from various locations and with different local requirements. In this context, an appropriate management of information flows is needed to create the adequate visibility level for managing supply chain risk. This chapter presents an overview on the concepts of risk management, visibility and information management in supply chains. This study proposes a conceptual framework for the selection of risk mitigation strategies in the supply chain and characterizes the external and internal information flows decision makers need to implement two categories of risk mitigation strategies: redundancy and flexibility. © 2018, IGI Global.

Abstract
This thesis aims at contributing with new research at the intersection of the research fields of information management and supply chain risk management. Information is a fundamental element for an effective risk management in supply networks. In spite of this, research on how to use internal and external information for risk management decisions in supply networks is scarce. Therefore, this thesis main goal is to characterize information models used in supply networks and the supply chain risk management process in order to propose an aggregated model of internal and external information for risk management decision support in supply networks. This work is based on the Design Science paradigm, which will be applied through several research methods: systematic literature review to analyse the current state of the art on information management in supply networks; field research to analyse the influence of different information organisation models in the process of supply chain risk management and to develop an information model based (artifact); and action research to implement the artifact for the definition of risk mitigation strategies in aeronautic supply networks.

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT

Abstract
Purpose To study how supply chain decision makers gather, process and use the available internal and external information when facing supply chain disruptions. Design/methodology/approach The paper reviews relevant supply chain literature to build an information management model for disruption management. Afterwards, three case studies in the vehicle assembly sector, namely cars, trucks and aircraft wings, bring the empirical insights to the information management model. Findings This research characterises the phases of disruption management and identifies the information companies use to recover from a variety of disruptive events. It presents an information management model to enhance supply chain visibility and support disruption management at the operational level. Moreover, it arrives at two design propositions to help companies in the redesign of their disruption discovery and recovery processes. Originality/value This research studies how companies manage operational disruptions. The proposed information management model allows to provide visibility to support the disruption management process. Also, based on the analysis of the disruptions occurring at the operational level we propose a conceptual model to support decision makers in the recovery from daily disruptive events.

SUPPLY CHAIN FORUM

Abstract
Recent studies have highlighted the potential of supply chain visibility (SCV) to improve companies' performance, support the decision-making process and increase the resilience and sustainability of supply chains (SC). However, the definition and the approaches to manage visibility are not consensual, especially when it comes to its assessment. This paper studies the influence that some characteristics of the information shared among SC partners have on SCV and provides a model that allows to assess the level of visibility. Focus group research was used to discuss the visibility assessment model with academic and practical experts and case studies were conducted to evaluate the implementation of the model in real contexts. The results support the applicability of the model in complex SCs and show that the visibility indices proposed can help managers to identify the SC partners where improvement actions are needed. This study contributes to literature and practice by means of a model to assess the visibility throughout the SC by considering different types and characteristics of the information shared.
