Knowledge Based Framework for Extended Textile Circulation

Less than 1 % of textiles are currently recycled. To reverse this trend, the European Commission has identified textiles as a priority product for the circular economy. In this context, the EU-funded tExtended project will reduce textile waste by 80 %. Specifically, the project will design a master plan to optimise textile flows and ensure the value of materials is retained in a safe and sustainable way. Based on this plan, it will implement a real-scale demonstrator. Bringing together a multidisciplinary group of experts in the textile recycling ecosystem, the project will ensure the feasibility of the model. Also, the knowledge produced on circular economy applied to the textile industry will boost competitiveness.
