Prioritizing barriers for the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies

Abstract
While Industry 4.0 promises large technological improvements, firms face multiple challenges in its adoption. Current literature has made significant efforts to identify the barriers which are common to most companies but fails to identify their interrelationships and their implications for practitioners. We use interpretive structural modelling (ISM) methodology to identify these barriers and their interrelationships, combined with matrix impact of cross multiplication applied to classification (MICMAC) analysis to identify the root barriers, in the context of the Portuguese manufacturing industry. We categorize these barriers using the Technology -Organization-Environment framework. We conclude that barriers related to standardization and lack of off -the-shelf solutions are considered root barriers. Our results differ from other studies that regard barriers related to legal and contractual uncertainty with the highest driving power and lowest dependence power. Also, we find that organizational barriers have the highest dependency and lowest driving power, contradicting studies on the topic. We provide recommendations for managers and policymakers in three areas: Standardization Dissemination, Infrastructure Development, and Digital Strategy.

6U CubeSat deployable telescope for Earth Observation and astronomical optical imaging

Abstract
Available volumes of nanosats such as CubeSats impose physical limits to the telescope diameter, limiting achievable spatial resolution and photometric capability. For example, a 12U CubeSat typically only has sufficient volume to host a 20 cm diameter monolithic telescope. In this paper, we present recent advances in deployable optics to host a 30 cm+ diameter telescope in a 6U CubeSat, with a volume of 4U dedicated to the payload and 2U to the satellite bus. To reach this high level of compactness, we fold the primary and secondary mirrors for launch, which are then unfolded and aligned in space. Diffraction-limited imaging quality in the visible part of the spectrum is achieved by controlling each mirror segment in piston, tip, and tilt. In this paper, we first describe overall satellite concept, we then report on the opto-mechanical design of the payload to deploy and adjust the mirrors. Finally, we discuss the automatic phasing of the primary to control the final optical quality of the telescope.

Abstract
Worldwide, family businesses are one of the cornerstones of the entrepreneurial fabric, being as a consequence central to growth and development. In a globalized era, these institutions require the attention of businessmen, practitioners, and policymakers. The chapter seeks to examine if the internationalization performance does vary according to firm size, and its link to the innovative performance in multiple dimensions along with conventional characteristics such as age and turnover. Theoretical research evidences the interest in understanding the patterns and determinants of the internationalization performance, given its importance in firm growth and survival; however, this strategical option brings advantages and problems. Empirical evidence demonstrates that the determinants do change according to firm dimension; estimations provide valuable insights about the connection between globalized operation and innovation, for the different organisations. © 2022 by IGI Global. An Initial Framework for Adaptive Serious Games Based on a Systematic Literature Review

Abstract
Serious Games have been used in professional training to increase employee engagement and improve the results of training initiatives. This work intends to investigate the influence of game elements, in adaptable Serious Games, according to the users' interactions, on the increase of engagement in the game itself and, as the main goal, on the learning results and the transfer of the acquired knowledge and practised skills to the daily work activities. Using the Design Science Research - DSR methodology, this study aims to develop a framework for the development and evaluation of Serious Games to improve the user experience, the learning outcomes, the transfer of knowledge to work situations, and the application of the skills practised in the game in real professional scenarios. This paper presents an initial Framework for Adaptive Serious Games derived from a systematic literature review. The next steps in this investigation are pointed out following the DSR methodology.

Developing Docker and Docker-Compose Specifications: A Developers' Survey

Abstract
Cloud computing and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), supported by technologies such as Docker, have shaped how many software systems are built and deployed. Previous research has identified typical issues for some types of IaC specification but not why they come to be, or they have delved into collaboration aspects but not into technical ones. This work aims to characterize the activities around two particular kinds of IaC specification-Dockerfiles and docker-compose.yml files. We seek to know how they can be better supported and therefore study also what approaches and tools practitioners employ. We used an online questionnaire to gather data. The first part of the study reached 68 graduate students from a study program on informatics engineering, and the second one 120 professional software developers. The results show that most of the activities of the process of developing a Dockerfile are perceived as time-consuming, especially when the respondents are beginners with this technology. We also found that solving issues using trial-and-error approaches is very common and that many developers do not use ancillary tools to support the development of Dockerfiles and docker-compose.yml files.
