Engineering

Work description

This research project focuses on the application of coherent optical communication systems in submarine cables. The aim is to exploit the phase and polarization information of transmitted signals to enable distributed sensing along the cable. The project seeks to transform existing submarine communication infrastructure into a large-scale sensor network for the detection and monitoring of geophysical phenomena.
