Industry 4.0: Individual Perceptions About Its Nine Technologies

Abstract
Industry 4.0 is a trendy concept that everyone is talking about. However there are several concepts and technologies attached to Industry 4.0. The concept is considered as the most recent industrial revolution and takes us to the domains of automation, digitalization and information, among others. The concept is trendy, but sometimes firms and employees are not able to follow new trends. This paper summarizes a research on the concepts of industry 4.0 and the 9 technologies commonly associated to Industry 4.0 umbrella. Most of the literature recognizes it as something that can bring several benefits to firms. However, it is also pointed out, that the adoption of these technologies relies in several factors. In this paper the focus is the human factors. A group of 260 persons participated in a questionnaire where were asked about their perceptions on industry 4.0 and its technologies. The main objective was to find different responses to Industry 4.0 technologies, according to age, education level, gender or field of studies. In general, all the individuals present a similar approach. Main differences were found on Big Data, Augmented Reality and Simulation technologies. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Abstract
Understanding the main factors that can compromise or improve the efficacy of home-based rehabilitation on the perspective of technology requires the review of the features of the equipment used in this area, both in terms of hardware and software. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the most recent technologies implemented into home-based rehabilitation scenario, namely wearable devices, robotic end-effectors, exoskeletons, and the role of artificial intelligence amongst these fields. Evidence is presented to better understand the present state of art of home-based rehabilitation systems, facilitating the exploration of hypothetical healthcare uses for these systems or their possible future upgrades.

A low-cost mobile robot for STEM subjects

Abstract
STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) are continuously growing but the number of technical workers do not accompany that growth. As the 21st century brings new challenges, students should be prepared for an increasingly complex life and work environments that will privilege proficiency in Learning and Innovation Skills that include Creativity and Innovation, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Communication and Collaboration. Also, the need to continuously explore new pedagogical practices in teaching and learning creates an opportunity to build new contents by balancing a stable and tested curriculum with new tools that stimulate creativity, allowing students to better understand the world they live in. This article describes the development of an educational robotics kit, aimed at children and teens from 8 to 18 years old, meant to work as an interdisciplinary teaching tool that can be applied directly in a curriculum.

Abstract
In this paper we analyze the relationship between the marketing mix and new product diffusion models. The goal is to obtain a general new product diffusion model that incorporates the classic 4Ps model of the Marketing Mix: Product, Price, Place, Promotion. On the joint-effect of class imbalance and overlap: a critical review

Abstract
Current research on imbalanced data recognises that class imbalance is aggravated by other data intrinsic characteristics, among which class overlap stands out as one of the most harmful. The combination of these two problems creates a new and difficult scenario for classification tasks and has been discussed in several research works over the past two decades. In this paper, we argue that despite some insightful information can be derived from related research, the joint-effect of class overlap and imbalance is still not fully understood, and advocate for the need to move towards a unified view of the class overlap problem in imbalanced domains. To that end, we start by performing a thorough analysis of existing literature on the joint-effect of class imbalance and overlap, elaborating on important details left undiscussed on the original papers, namely the impact of data domains with different characteristics and the behaviour of classifiers with distinct learning biases. This leads to the hypothesis that class overlap comprises multiple representations, which are important to accurately measure and analyse in order to provide a full characterisation of the problem. Accordingly, we devise two novel taxonomies, one for class overlap measures and the other for class overlap-based approaches, both resonating with the distinct representations of class overlap identified. This paper therefore presents a global and unique view on the joint-effect of class imbalance and overlap, from precursor work to recent developments in the field. It meticulously discusses some concepts taken as implicit in previous research, explores new perspectives in light of the limitations found, and presents new ideas that will hopefully inspire researchers to move towards a unified view on the problem and the development of suitable strategies for imbalanced and overlapped domains.

Digital Transformation for SMES in the Retail Industry

Abstract
Digital transformation is a challenge that many SMEs find difficult to embrace. This difficulty is not due to a lack of will or resources but to the lack of the right strategies for the specific type of organization. It is a common and accepted opinion that many of the digital transformation projects fail or do not achieve the proposed objectives because of the chosen strategy. Digital transformation cannot be seen as a mere evolution of technologies but as a need to shape the entire business of the organization. The increase in e-commerce has forced SMEs to embark on this disruptive process based on globalization and digital business. In this work, we seek to understand which kind of strategy an SME in the retail industry should follow for a correct transformation of its business model. In this work, is proposed a conceptual model for the digital transformation of retail SMEs and explained how to create a prototype script to support the choice of the best digital strategy for retail SMEs. To prove the validity of the prototype, it has been applied in a practical case of a business process in a retail SME. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.
