Abstract
A big concern in seeking to understand the evolution of the future of jobs and the demand for skills with the increase of automation is shown by the wide range of existing literature regarding the subject. This study gathers relevant information about the topics of: automation, the future of employment, advantages and disadvantages of technological changes, changes in the range of skills and if people are ready for the future changes or not. Firstly, the authors give an overview on the main topics that will be discussed later on in the article and construct a theoretical framework based on the current literature. Secondly, the methodology is presented namely the field work involving 21 interviews. After that, the interview results are analyzed, discussed and compared with what was shown in the literature review. The results revealed that people in general are not aware of the impact that automation will have on their working environment. Additionally, the authors concluded that existing education systems should be reformulated since the portfolio of skills will change in the future. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing

Abstract
Fake news, fabricated stories, rumours, misleading headlines (the so-called clickbaits) are nothing new. The difference of the current context is how fast and wide they spread online, mainly through social network websites, reaching sometimes millions of users. Recently, this problem gained visibility due to its influence on political systems, especially electoral processes and political polarization. The current study addresses these matters, studying how users interact with news in social media platforms, with a deeper insight concerning Facebook and Twitter. The findings not only provide evidence of the importance of social networks as gateways for news, but our data also shows that consumer trust in news is worryingly low, combined with high levels of concern about false news stories. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Technological innovation in the agriculture sector - Who are we reaching?

Proceedings of the European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, ECIE

Abstract
This paper evaluates the success of an innovative web platform created in 2011 by the Institute for Financing Agriculture and Fisheries (IFAP) named "IFAP Private Account" in which the farmer was registered and accessed their data, their history of correspondence with the Institute, checking the forms they had already submitted as well inspections carried out in the field or administratively. In 2011 the ordinance 86/2011 was published that dictated new procedures by the Institute of Financing of Agriculture and Fisheries, I.P. (IFAP) as the institution allocated the managing of the EAGF (European Agricultural Guarantee Fund) and the EAFRD (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development). Gradually, the functionalities included in this platform increased the possibility for farmers to submit application forms in their own private accounts. Later, in 2014, IFAP released an APP for Android and iOS smartphones where the beneficiary has access to his or her private account in a faster and more convenient way. For the enabling framework of the target audience of the study it was imperative to do a literature review to carry out an economic and social analysis of the sector and the population living in rural areas and manual labour and agricultural entrepreneurs. Therefore, to understand and characterize IFAP's target public (farmers/beneficiaries) as well as the wherewithal and knowledge they have to access their own private account in an autonomous way, quantifying and characterizing the type of access was a priority. Headquartered in low-density areas, agricultural entrepreneurs present unique opportunities for innovation and differentiation and, at the same time, experience several barriers to growth. Some of these barriers are mentioned in the article in order to raise awareness of the difficulties presented by farmers and inhabitants of rural and peripheral areas. Thus, surveys were directed to farmers and technicians in grassroots entities (associations and cooperatives) in order to understand whether users carry out access to the reserved area autonomously or if they need assistance from others in doing so.

INTERNATIONAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND MANAGEMENT JOURNAL

Abstract
We intend to further the research related to the factors that determine successful entrepreneurial endeavours by academic researchers, and thus put forth an exploratory model of Knowledge-Based Entrepreneurship (KBE). Given the lack of extant adequate indicators, a new scale was developed based on the most frequently cited constructs in the literature. A sample of 1,401 researchers from Portuguese universities was administered a questionnaire and the data collected permitted a validation with regards to the psychometric properties of the questionnaire, to see its applicability to the study. The findings suggest that the absence of a patenting history or start-up portfolio act as significant barriers to academic entrepreneurship. However, when the institutional strategy is to increase patenting and spin-off activities, the university should begin investing in creating a networking environment capable of reinforcing the researchers' Social Capital. Observing the example of successful entrepreneurs motivates other researchers to consider the possibility of developing their own ventures. The Structural Equations Modelling (SEM) approach allowed for us to identify and measure the non-linear relationships that shape the core of KBE and influence the attainment of measurable outcomes aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship. A relatively high share of the variance of the dependent variables is explained by the model, ensuring their representativeness and contributing to the state-of-art of the knowledge in this research field.

Journal of Technology Management and Innovation

Abstract
Given the growth in usage of online social networks, such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat, which rely on videos and images (such as photos) to relay information between connections, new intuitive languages, though not yet formally recognized, have emerged. We also herein give the example of a new language we have created – the Business Narrative Modelling Language (BNML) – which communicates business perspectives based on pictorial representations, supported by the narrative. Currently, the concept of language is linked to the use of words. We foresee that such a definition of language will have to change to include other structured forms of communication, resorting and relying on graphics, also. We give examples of BNML representations, with regards to two case studies we have performed, based on face-to-face interviews and company visits. At ExpressGlass technology plays an important role, while at Yazaki Saltano a remarkable team effort between Toyota suppliers is made evident, to create innovation. © Universidad Alberto Hurtado, Facultad de Economía y Negocios.

QUALITY-ACCESS TO SUCCESS

Abstract
Micro and Small Enterprises have emerged as an important alternative for the generation of jobs and income, mainly in countries that present serious market failures for the creation of productive jobs. However, the lack of commercial and managerial skills, inadequate access to markets, as well as the absence of an entrepreneurial culture has led to a high level of failure in these ventures. Additionally, the current competitive scenario has been increasingly based on innovation, responsible for the destruction of traditional competitive barriers, requiring a new approach on the part of Micro and Small Enterprises to be able to remain in the market sustainably. Accordingly, this research aims to determine the influence that business management has on the degree of innovation of Brazilian Micro and Small Enterprises through Structural Equation Modeling. As a theoretical contribution, the present investigation may point to statistical evidence that may support a causal inference between business management, understood in the present investigation as a decision process on strategic and operational aspects of a business, and the innovation capacity of companies. Furthermore, this research can provide important practical contributions by highlighting the relevance that business management has for Micro and Small Enterprises, also pointing to the need for Micro and Small Enterprises to adopt systematic business management practices that raise their potential concerning the development of innovations and the maintenance of a sustainable competitive position.
