2013 5TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GAMES AND VIRTUAL WORLDS FOR SERIOUS APPLICATIONS (VS-GAMES)
Abstract
Currently, Virtual Worlds technology is used for educational purposes in a cross-disciplinary way. However, particularly in formal learning institutions, its widespread adoption is far from being a reality due a broad range of technological challenges. This paper addresses identity federation systems as possible solutions to some of the interoperability, security and user management problems. Our major goal is to present what systems, architectures and standards are standing out, how the research area is moving toward identity federation, and why educational institutions need to address it. We consider identity, privacy, security-assurance, and interoperability as main concerns within our analysis, in order to interconnect digital identities with physical identities, and create a unique federated identity system that can act independently from the service in use. Thus, VWs technologies will be able to scale and evolve independently without compromising user's identity.

Abstract
Organizations are increasingly concerned with process optimization, thus aiming on gaining competitive advantages in the market. Inherent to any business, company or institution there is a constant document creation, manipulation and treatment flow. In many cases a real bureaucratic chaos. These processes involve great efforts in terms of human resources and are highly susceptible to errors. Sousacamp is a group of companies in the agrifood area that are geographically distributed throughout the Iberian Peninsula. Given that the group companies buy and sell from each other, the paper volume inherent to documenting these transactions is significantly high. This paper presents a documental integration strategy supported on the development of an application using ASP, .NET and C#

INTERCIENCIA
Abstract
The production of waste pollutants has increased in recent decades at an impressive rate. These pollutants pose a threat to life on our planet, so it is increasingly important to process them correctly. Fortunately, today it is possible to obtain profit through the reuse and recycling of most of these residues, in particular, of vegetable oil, which is especially interesting due to the potential of transforming it into biodiesel. However, this process does present some constraints, mainly related to the operating costs associated with its collection. This paper proposes a new platform that aims to simplify the bureaucracy of the process and optimize the collection routes, thus maximizing the potential profit to be obtained from this business.

JOURNAL OF UNIVERSAL COMPUTER SCIENCE
Abstract
Web accessibility is becoming a current topic in social and scientific discussions. With the advances in technology, a need for access to all Web resources is becoming more and more recurrent due to the several advantages that the Web brings to those with some sort of disability, allowing them accessing and integrating in society. With this document we aim to present indicators regarding the lower accessibility levels of the Portuguese teaching institutions websites. A set of background and theoretical considerations is made alongside the article, as well as the results of an accessibility evaluation made to the Portuguese secondary schools websites using a specialized software tool and according to WCAG 2.0. The present document also contains a proposal for a model that aims on improving Web accessibility Levels in Portugal by fostering the creation of relations and group activities between the actors that, in our opinion, are those with the most relevance in the Web content accessibility issue.

Abstract
This article describes an application proposal since the analysis till the development of a software, which presents itself as a solution to the existent management problem in the Electronics Store in the Engineering Department of University of Tras-os-Montes and Alto Douro. The study as followed a development methodology intrinsic to the problem and to all the features associated to management systems, with the main purpose to obtain a suitable solution by means of Information Technologies capable to support the users in the management of all services and resources of the store in a way completely integrated with the information systems that are more relevant to teaching activity. The solution was developed using Web technologies, enabling an optimized channel for accessing and managing all services and products provided by the store, increasing their efficiency, organization and ability to respond to requests made by all users.

Abstract
Higher education institutions (HEI) and students are highly dependent of information systems, implemented as web applications. Students must be able to access this applications, thought accessible web interfaces, in order to perform their academic activities. This paper presents an overview of a typical set of web applications used by students and the main concerns regarding accessibility compliance. The analysis was conducted using the systems at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
