INESC TEC claims its position as partner of the Norte Portugal Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N) in the elaboration of a regional agenda to establish nanotechnologies, advanced materials and production technologies (NMP) for the manufacturing industry.

DIVA, the new European project with INESC TEC’s cooperation, aims to implement the use of digital technologies in agriculture, agroofood, forestry and environment sectors. It was one of the four projects approved in more than 80 submitted applications. The kickoff meeting took place on 12 April in Brussels, in which all partners involved were present.

The last session of the 3rd edition of the Business Ignition Programme (BIP) took place on 19 April at the Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto with the presentation of the finalists’ ideas, with the first two places being given to projects of CIIMAR - Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research.

On 16 March, the Collaborative Laboratory (CoLAB) ForestWISE, coordinated by INESC TEC, was presented publicly with the signature of a memorandum of understanding with the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) at the Forest Ciência Viva Centre in Proença-a-Nova.

A workshop in which TR&D’s INESC units attended, took place on 13 March at Coimbra with the purpose of presenting projects that are still in development or being prepared under the theme “Systems and technologies created to support the institutions on incidents management and land use planning”, as a result of the serious fires of 2017.

Aurora Teixeira, researcher at INESC TEC’s Centre of Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE), won two of the four awards in Innovation assigned by the Office for Strategy and Studies (GEE) and for Portuguese National Innovation Agency (ANI).

The CoLAB - Collaborative Laboratory for Integrated Forest & Fire Wise Management – ForestWISE, whose application was led by INESC TEC, in the context of the work developed by INESC TEC’s Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE), was approved on January 30 by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

Through the LET-In programme, the Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE) of INESC TEC is part of the National Network of Incubators, a project that intends to accredit new entities and certify them for the attribution of "Incubation Vouchers".

The second edition of the Startup Porto Accelerator (SPA) programme, under the IN&OUT project, ended in November with more than 150 applications from 14 different countries. In total, INESC TEC supported the creation of 20 new startups in web and mobile areas, with each edition giving rise to 10 new startups.

The new European project in the field of sustainable tourism and cultural heritage is called TuriSMEshare and has the participation of the Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE) of INESC TEC. The kick-off meeting took place on 14 and 15 December, in Rome.
