On 16 November, INESC TEC received the Caravana Tecnológica (Technological Caravan) of the MTech Portugal 2017 initiative and, in particular, the group of companies that expressed interest in getting to know the institute, its centres and its work.

Mayara Monteiro, researcher at the Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE) of INESC TEC and student of the Doctoral Programme in Transport Systems (MIT Portugal) of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, supervised by Jorge Pinho de Sousa, received the award for Best Master’s Dissertation of Brazil in the area of Transportation.

A group of researchers from the Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE) and the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD) of INESC TEC and of the University of Porto (UP) participated in the workshop "Sports & Data Science", where it had the opportunity to make a presentation on the potential of using Data Science in the analysis of football matches.

The article “Arbitrated Ensemble for Time Series Forecasting”, authored by INESC TEC researchers Vítor Cerqueira and Luís Torgo (LIAAD – Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support) and Fábio Pinto and Carlos Soares (CESE – Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering), received the Best Student Machine Learning paper award, promoted by the Machine Learning journal.

A team of researchers from the Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE) and the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD) of INESC TEC are using artificial intelligence tools to analyse the behaviour of the athletes participating in the Women’s Euro 2017, in the Netherlands. The purpose is to help teams improve their performances.

In November 2016, INESC TEC kicked off project ADIRA 4.0 where the goal is to respond to the need for innovative and economically viable solutions that make it possible to turn equipment into intelligent components of manufacturing systems.
