What if we could overcome barriers and make public transportation accessible and inclusive for everyone?

A team of researchers from INESC TEC, the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC) and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) is working to turn inclusive accessibility into a reality in public transportation. The AllAboard project has already begun, focusing on improving the user appeal of public transportation, helping the sector remove the barriers that impact users’ experiences with said mobility options.

INESC TEC secures a place on the European Innovation Awards podium for the third consecutive year

A solution designed to improve access to and efficiency in kidney transplantation - while enhancing patients’ quality of life and generating potential savings of up to €2M for every 100 patients in the healthcare sector - has earned a recognition at this year’s EARTO Awards. KEPsoft is among the winners in the Expected Impact category of the awards presented by EARTO, the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations. The award ceremony took place on Tuesday, 14 October, in Brussels.

A new way to plan routes: mathematical models and algorithms overcome unpredictability

How can we ensure that vehicles arrive at their destinations in a synchronised way, even when travel times are not exact? To answer this question, a team of researchers from INESC TEC and the JKU Business School (Austria) has developed a solution to improve the efficiency and reliability of transportation and logistics services, even when faced with unexpected delays.

Portuguese Logistics Association acknowledged route planning model developed by INESC TEC

The TacitRouting project - combining data science methods with traditional optimisation techniques for last-mile route planning to make them more efficient - received the PEL Academia 2025 prize by APLOG, the Portuguese Logistics Association. This award recognises academic initiatives with high impact and innovation that are applicable to the business and logistics sectors.

As part of the Bioshoes4All project, INESC TEC is in the final development phase of a traceability solution that tracks the entire lifecycle of footwear - from raw materials to the final product. The main benefit of this system is harnessing data already being recorded in company systems, automatically using it to create a complete traceability record.

What should we know to make our homes more energy efficient? There's a European project that can support us.

Homes in Europe are estimated to be responsible for approximately 40% of the European Union's energy consumption and 36% of greenhouse gas emissions. DECODIT, a European project featuring INESC TEC, will support the energy transition of homes, through the development of digital services to support citizens in the decision-making process of renovating and managing the energy of their homes. These services will help us choose the solutions that best meet our personal needs.
