A survey of multisensory VR and AR applications for cultural heritage

Abstract
The use of technology in cultural heritage sites for end-users, like virtual audio-visual reconstructions, has become a common solution to improve the communication and perception between these spaces and their visitors. Since humans perceive the world with different senses and in real-time, to evoke more than one or two senses at a time can bring benefits for the user perception. Accordingly, some very different implementations unleashing multisensory experiences have been made. Aiming to understand how different stimuli are being evoked in multisensory experiences to enhance cultural heritage experiences, and how these implementations are being evaluated, this paper presents a systematic review of technological multisensory applications in cultural heritage. Thus, the collected and analyzed data, focused on technologies used, purpose of the experience, stimuli explored, evaluation process, main findings obtained, and limitations found, will provide valuable information for further implementations. The overall results unleash the wide diversity available for multisensory implementations, from technological solutions to available content for users. Covering the pros and cons of such diversity, this study sustains the use of multisensory applications in cultural heritage as a powerful tool to enrich users' visits.

Abstract
When talking about Cybersecurity, particularly in security incident response plan and processes it is very common and relevant to talk about the ability to detect malicious or suspicious activities and behavior as soon as possible, in other words, in this domain, in Cybersecurity everyone wants to reduce the Mean time to detect (MTTD) or Mean time to respond (MTTR) a potential security incident. The use of Cyber Threat Intelligence CTI indicators can contribute to the reduction of the mean time to detect threats and consequently directly influence the time to response, however there are different types of Cyber Threat Intelligence that serve different purposes. The objective of the study is the development of a reference architecture to support and process data from the most diverse type of data sources in terms of Cyber Threat Intelligence, for example using the combination data from Open Source Intelligence - OSINT sources and honeypots, taking into consideration the advantages and disadvantages of each of these types of data sources to correlate them with each other in order to increase the trust and reliability of the relevant indicators that can be used by security analysts in incident response processes. This paper presents the proposed work for a PhD thesis in Web Science and Technology, scheduled for completion in July 2023. This doctoral thesis falls within the area of Computer Engineering, with applicability in the domain of Cybersecurity and consequently in the subdomain of Threat Intelligence. The research project is in the state-of-the-art study phase. It is expected that the participation in this Doctoral Symposium will provide potential comments that can enhance the growth and complement the ongoing research work.

The Role of Wannabes in the Digital Nomad Ecosystem in Times of Pandemic

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to reveal a set of new results obtained from an ongoing investigation focused on the way that the particular characteristics which are inherent to 'wannabe' digital nomads' activities contribute to the sustainability of the whole digital nomad ecosystem. In line with the premise of this research, we assume the importance of understanding the impacts that are being felt in the personal knowledge management ecology practices and routines of digital nomads as experienced by a specific online population (i.e., Reddit user base), together with a deep and wide examination of their preferences and expectations regarding the technology-mediated work-life issues that exert a direct influence on the digital nomad community. To this end, we gathered and further processed text posts and comments from users in the '/r/digitalnomad' subreddit. From a sociotechnical standpoint, the empirical data extracted from this sample population about the wannabe/how to be digital nomad symbiotic ecosystem can provide insightful information for researchers worldwide about future design-level interventions. © 2022 IEEE.

Real-time Wall Identification for Underwater Mapping using Imaging Sonar

Abstract
Wall and other planar structures are common in environments as harbors, marinas, or dams. In this paper we introduce an algorithm aimed at the identification of these structures through acoustic images retrieved from an imaging sonar, building on an application of the Hough Transform algorithm. We employ a polar-based line parametric model for improved computational efficiency and further adapt the core Hough Transform blocks to the characteristics of acoustic imaging. The developed solution was subjected to experimental tests employing acoustic data acquired in a water tank, from different viewpoints and under different sonar gain configurations.

Industry 4.0: Individual Perceptions About Its Nine Technologies

Abstract
Industry 4.0 is a trendy concept that everyone is talking about. However there are several concepts and technologies attached to Industry 4.0. The concept is considered as the most recent industrial revolution and takes us to the domains of automation, digitalization and information, among others. The concept is trendy, but sometimes firms and employees are not able to follow new trends. This paper summarizes a research on the concepts of industry 4.0 and the 9 technologies commonly associated to Industry 4.0 umbrella. Most of the literature recognizes it as something that can bring several benefits to firms. However, it is also pointed out, that the adoption of these technologies relies in several factors. In this paper the focus is the human factors. A group of 260 persons participated in a questionnaire where were asked about their perceptions on industry 4.0 and its technologies. The main objective was to find different responses to Industry 4.0 technologies, according to age, education level, gender or field of studies. In general, all the individuals present a similar approach. Main differences were found on Big Data, Augmented Reality and Simulation technologies. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Abstract
Understanding the main factors that can compromise or improve the efficacy of home-based rehabilitation on the perspective of technology requires the review of the features of the equipment used in this area, both in terms of hardware and software. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the most recent technologies implemented into home-based rehabilitation scenario, namely wearable devices, robotic end-effectors, exoskeletons, and the role of artificial intelligence amongst these fields. Evidence is presented to better understand the present state of art of home-based rehabilitation systems, facilitating the exploration of hypothetical healthcare uses for these systems or their possible future upgrades.
