Abstract
The significance of analog studies using lava tubes on Earth to inform on the design of future lunar and Martian missions is aimed at exploring and utilising those structures as potential habitats on those planetary bodies. Lava tubes, natural subsurface cavities formed by volcanic activity, have several characteristics that make them appealing for human habitation on the Moon and Mars. Researchers conducting analog studies on Earth can gain valuable insights into the geological, environmental, engineering, crew and robotic challenges associated with lunar or Martian lava tube exploration and housing. This work reviews some scientific characteristics of an Azorean lava tube system that can contribute towards analog studies and their potential to help plan and design lunar and Martian missions. Human and robotic planetary exploration has garnered considerable attention recently, focusing on identifying potential habitats for future human missions. Lava tubes, formed by molten lava flowing beneath the solidified crust, offer natural subsurface shelters with numerous advantages for lunar or Martian habitation. This work provides insight into one of a lava tube structures, in Terceira island in the Azores archipelago. This structure would be adequate for analog studies that can contribute to the design of missions, providing valuable protocols for geological, geophysical and engineering tasks and potentially facilitating the development of sustainable lunar or Martian habitats. © 2023 International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference. Abstract
Currently, distributed software systems have evolved at an unprecedented pace. Modern software-quality requirements are high and require significant staff support and effort. This study investigates the use of a supervised machine learning model, a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), for anomaly detection in microservices. The study covers the creation of a microservices infrastructure, the development of a fault injection module that simulates application-level and service-level anomalies, the creation of a system monitoring dataset, and the creation and validation of the MLP model to detect anomalies. The results indicate that the MLP model effectively detects anomalies in both domains with higher accuracy, precision, recovery, and F1 score on the service-level anomaly dataset. The potential for more effective distributed system monitoring and management automation is highlighted in this study by focusing on service-level metrics such as service response times. This study provides valuable information about the effectiveness of supervised machine learning models in detecting anomalies across distributed software systems.

Abstract
This paper proposes a new decentralized framework for distribution system operators (DSO) to evaluate the network feasibility of the aggregators' bids and remunerate them in case of providing network support services. Compared to other state-of-the-art approaches, this framework is characterized as being more efficient in terms of communication and computational requirements, which is a great advantage for real world applications. The new framework includes a novel optimization model to decide if aggregators' bids should be curtailed or not to ensure network security and minimize DSO costs. To evaluate and compare the proposed DSO framework against the current one, we used the IEEE 69-bus network with three aggregators of distributed energy resources (DER) from the Iberian electricity market. Our experiments show that the proposed DSO framework ensures distribution network security, while the current framework in place in the Iberian Peninsula does not. In addition, we also studied three curtailment policies for the new DSO framework. The results show that minimizing curtailment costs is the most cost-effective policy for the DSO, compared to the other two policies focused on minimizing linear and squared curtailments.

SUSTAINABLE ENERGY GRIDS & NETWORKS

Abstract
The replacement of fossil fuel power plants by variable renewable energy sources is reducing the flexibility of the energy system, which puts at risk its security. Exploiting the flexibility of distributed multi-energy resources through aggregators presents a solution for this problem. In this context, this paper presents a new hierarchical model predictive control framework to assist multi-energy aggregators in the network-secure delivery of multi-energy services traded in electricity, natural gas, green hydrogen, and carbon markets. This work builds upon and complements a previous work from the same authors related to bidding strategies for day-ahead markets - it closes the cycle of aggregators' participation in multi-energy markets, i.e., day-ahead bidding and real-time activation of flexibility services. This new model predictive control framework uses the alternating direction method of multipliers on a rolling horizon to negotiate the network-secure delivery of multi-energy services between aggregators and distribution system operators of electricity, gas, and heat networks. We used the new model predictive control framework to conduct two studies. In the first study, we found that considering multi-energy network constraints at both day-ahead and real-time optimization stages produces the most cost-effective and reliable solution to aggregators, outperforming state-of-the-art approaches in terms of cost and network security. In the second study, we found that the adoption of a green hydrogen policy by multi-energy aggregators can reduce their consumption of natural gas and respective CO2 emissions significantly if carbon and green hydrogen prices are competitive.& COPY; 2023 Elsevier Ltd. PASOS-REVISTA DE TURISMO Y PATRIMONIO CULTURAL

Abstract
With the changes manifested in rural areas over the last few decades, the preservation of these territories and their people is associated with the ability of the local population to innovate, often using endogenous resources. Traditional Arts and Crafts (TACs), allied to other local economic activities, constitute instruments of local socioeconomic regeneration. Starting from a research based on the websites of the fourteen municipalities of the interior region Viseu Dao Lafoes in Portugal, complemented with analysis of bibliographic information regarding the initiatives described in the same websites, in this study, it is intended to observe what is the dis-semination that is made by the websites of the municipalities in the region and explore the innovation imprinted by these initiatives. The results suggest that despite the existence of notable examples of TACs initiatives in the region, with a clear focus on innovation - product, process, organizational and marketing, the promotion carried out by the municipalities is (still) modest. Taking into account the artisanal nature of these initiatives themselves, the scarcity of human and financial resources in the municipalities where they are located, but their contribution to strengthening the regional identity and to tourism, institutional support, namely in terms of the promotion that is carried out and animation practices involving artisans, must be reinforced.

Abstract
Background: Virtual reality (VR) has the potential to be a powerful tool in promoting empathy towards inclusion, particularly for individuals with impairments such as mobility difficulties, vision deficits, or autism but also about pregnancy, which can create temporary difficulties. By immersing users in simulated environments that replicate the experiences of those with different abilities, VR can create a sense of understanding and empathy for those who face challenges in their daily lives. For example, VR experiences can simulate the experience of navigating space as someone with a mobility impairment, providing a new perspective and appreciation for the difficulties that others face. Similarly, VR experiences can simulate the experience of vision impairment, pregnancy, or autism, providing a window into the challenges faced by those with these conditions and fostering empathy and understanding. Material and Methods: During the development of this study, field experts were consulted to ensure the robustness of the methods employed. Then, questionnaires were specifically developed to explore disabilities and challenges related to inclusion and were administered to a large population. Additionally, guided interviews were conducted with individuals who possess specific impairments to gather first-hand insights. Results: The results obtained from the questionnaires and interviews provide a comprehensive overview of the inclusion challenges that necessitate attention and resolution. By drawing on the expertise of both experts and individuals with lived experiences, a holistic landscape of inclusion challenges has been established. Conclusions: The VR emerges as a powerful tool for promoting inclusion and fostering understanding among individuals. Its capacity to create immersive experiences that facilitate empathy has the potential to reshape society into a more compassionate and empathetic one. By leveraging the unique capabilities of VR, we can bridge the gap between different perspectives, fostering greater understanding, acceptance, and inclusivity.
