Abstract
We consider the problem faced by an economic agent trying to find the optimal strategies for the joint management of her consumption from a basket of K goods that may become unavailable for consumption from some random time tau(i) onwards, and her investment portfolio in a financial market model comprised of one risk-free security and an arbitrary number of risky securities driven by a multidimensional Brownian motion. We apply previous abstract results on stochastic optimal control problem with multiple random time horizons to obtain a sequence of dynamic programming principles and the corresponding Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations. We then proceed with a numerical study of the value function and corresponding optimal strategies for the problem under consideration in the case of discounted constant relative risk aversion utility functions (CRRA).

Abstract
Alongside significant advantages which come through large scale integration of wind power into the grid, it imposes some essential challenges on Independent System Operators (ISOs) performance. The stochastic nature of wind power causes technical and economic impacts on power system operation. As one of the highly-flexible and low-cost solutions, demand response (DR) resources are expected to be helpful for reducing integration problems. In this regard, this paper proposes a stochastic energy and reserve scheduling framework that includes DR resources. The proposed market clearing formulation contains network constraints and considers economical, technical and environmental aspects. In order to investigate the role of DR in the improvement of wind power integration, a new index is proposed in the paper. The IEEE-RTS is selected as a test system to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed stochastic scheduling model in wind integration.

Abstract
A new microstructured optical fiber is demonstrated to detect acetone evaporation by observing the time response of the reflected signal at 1550nm. The sensor consists on a caterpillar-like fiber, with a transversal microfluidic channel created with a Focused Ion Beam technique, spliced to a single-mode fiber. Different stages were visible between the dipping and the evaporation of acetone and of a mixture of water and acetone. It was also possible to detect the presence of water vapor.

Abstract
In this work we propose the development of a stereo SLS system for underwater inspection operations. We demonstrate how to perform a SLS calibration both in dry and underwater environments using two different methods. The proposed methodology is able to achieve quite accurate results, lower than 1 mm in dry environments. We also display a 3D underwater scan of a known object size, a sea scallop, where the system is able to perform a scan with a global error lower than 2% of the object size.

Abstract
Cyber-physical systems concept supports the realization of the Industrie 4.0 vision towards the computerization of traditional industries, aiming to achieve intelligent and reconfigurable factories. Standardization assumes a critical role in the industrial adoption of cyberphysical systems, namely in the integration of legacy systems as well as the smooth migration from existing running systems to the new ones. This paper analyses some existing standards in related fields and presents identified limitations and efforts for a wider acceptance of such systems by industry. Special attention is devoted to the efforts to develop a standard-compliant serviceoriented multi-agent system solution within the ARUM project.

Abstract
Storage technologies are expected to assume an increasing relevance in the next few years, given the widespread number of available options, the possible applications and the reduction of investment costs. Therefore and apart from the well-known hydro pumping stations, the installation of storage is being considered as an increasingly viable option namely in distribution networks and also in end user installations. This paper reviews the recently passed Portuguese legislation on self-consumption and details a model to evaluate the economic interest of installing batteries together with PV panels according to several possible business models. The simulations suggest that the tariffs currently applied and the investment costs turn these options still not attractive so that a final simulation was developed to evaluate the break even value of the tariffs to turn the investments on storage paid in a reasonable horizon.
