Abstract
We present PRIME (PSF Reconstruction and Identification for Multi-sources characterization Enhancement) as a novel hybrid concept to improve the PSF estimation based on Adaptive optics (AO) control loop data. PRIME uses both focal and pupil plane data to jointly estimate the model parameters, which are both the atmospheric (Cn2 (h), seeing), system (e.g. optical gains, residual low-order errors). The parametric model in use is flexible enough to be scaled with field location and wavelength, making it a proper choice for optimized on-axis and off-axis data-reduction across the spectrum. We review the methodology and on-sky validations on NIRC2 at Keck II. We also present applications of PSF model parameters retrieval using PRIME: (i) calibrate the PSF model for observations void of stars on the acquired images, i.e. optimize the PSF reconstruction process (ii) update the AO error breakdown mutually constrained by the telemetry and the images in order to speculate on the origin of the missing error terms and evaluate their magnitude (iii) measure photometry and astrometry in stellar fields.

12TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND INNOVATION (ICERI2019)

Abstract
This paper explores two editions of a MOOC delivered at Universidade Aberta's "AULAbERTA" (Open Class) platform. This platform offers different kinds of open learning paths and concerning specifically the MOOC learning path it is relevant to understand if the pedagogical model and the strategy achieve the desired results: (i) to improve education and enlarge the access to knowledge; (ii) to deliver high quality open and online education in Portuguese. The methodology used was based on a cross analysis of learner activity statistics against certain characteristics of the participants' profile like profession and motivations. Four categories of participants were identified and some aspects of their behaviours and engagement in the MOOC were examined, providing some insights concerning the level of participation and interaction. These elements can help us to understand some differences in the learning experiences connected with internal and external motivations and also how participants appreciate the online experience and course design.

Abstract
Technological advancements have created a media ecosystem in which traditional journalism sees its existence strongly threatened by the emergence of new players. Social networks have created a competitive environment that, whether due to its dispersion or its capillarity, has relegated the mainstream media to a secondary role in the media ecosystem. Ironically, the technologies that threaten traditional journalism are also those that can save it; provided they are used correctly. Journalism, weakened by the economic crisis and with increasingly smaller newsrooms, has artificial intelligence as an opportunity to recover a certain centrality in the media ecosystem. This paper studies AIDA, a project from the Brazilian television network Globo. This project looked to automation as a way to avoid errors and ambiguities in the news. The study of the AIDA case, complemented by interviews, presents the challenges to achieve the automatization of news regarding electoral polls.

Abstract
The present study puts forward a regression analytic model based on the random forest algorithm, developed to predict, at an early stage, the global academic performance of the undergraduates of a polytechnic higher education institution. The study targets the universe of an institution composed of 5 schools rather than following the usual procedure of delimiting the prediction to one single specific degree course. Hence, we intend to provide the institution with one single tool capable of including the heterogeneity of the universe of students as well as educational dynamics. A different approach to feature selection is proposed, which enables to completely exclude categories of predictive variables, making the model useful for scenarios in which not all categories of data considered are collected. The introduced model can be used at a central level by the decision-makers who are entitled to design actions to mitigate academic failure. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Abstract
While the transmission system benefits from a high observability, the distribution system has a relatively low level of observability. This problem is already being addressed with the deployment of smart meters, in an effort to make the smart grid concept a reality. Nevertheless, as observability increases, so too does the volume of data, which makes the development of advanced software tools a very important subject. In this paper, the application of image analysis techniques to a low voltage grid is explored, by converting voltage data into an image format, using a cognitive network to evaluate and cluster grid operating modes. The proposed method is applied to a 33-bus low voltage grid to evaluate voltage profiles at each bus and the associated technical limits (voltage limits alarms).
