Abstract
Switched reluctance machines (SRM) are simple, robust and fault tolerant machines, usually operating under strong nonlinear characteristics. Therefore, accurately modeling this machine is a demanding task. Several models have been proposed, where magnetic saturation is often addressed, without considering hysteresis effect. In the proposed model the SRM magnetization characteristics are generated through the Jiles-Atherton (J-A) hysteresis model. Thus, instead of a post-processing inclusion, hysteresis is considered in simulation. This is the model main attribute, which is discussed in detail. This may contribute for a better understanding of hysteresis impact over the SRM operation modes. Simulation results are also presented and discussed.

Abstract
Renewable energy sources are environmentally appealing in electrical power grids. However, distributed energy resources (DER) are typically connected to the grid through converters that do not have the same properties as synchronous generators which have high participation in power generation. Some of these properties like inertial response are important and must not be lost with higher DER penetration. The present paper analyses two converter control algorithms that are capable of emulating inertial response in DER: the Virtual Synchronous Generator control (VSG) and the Synchronverter. Both algorithms are described, implemented and tested in a practical experiment and a comparison of both algorithms is assessed in terms of frequency nadir achieved, settling time and implementation complexity. The findings can give useful insights to help decide which algorithm should be implemented in a future real application.

Abstract
This work deals with the design of a smart balancing system for e-mobility applications. Low-cost bi-directional DC/DC converters, based on cell-to-cell shared energy transfer configuration, are used to connect battery cells to the balancing bus, which also includes a supercapacitor bank. This system can be seen as a hybrid battery management system (HBMS), since, in addition to traditional BMS features, it also enables hybridization of batteries and supercapacitors. A convex optimization problem is formulated to control the HBMS, focusing on the minimization of energy losses, while considering safety and balancing constraints. Simulation results demonstrate that, in comparison with state-of-the-art BMS solutions, the proposed HBMS reduces energy losses in up to 15%.

Abstract
Public datasets are becoming extremely important for the scientific and industrial community to accelerate the development of new approaches and to guarantee identical testing conditions for comparing methods proposed by different researchers. This research presents the Urban@CRAS dataset that captures several scenarios of one iconic region at Porto Portugal These scenario presents a multiplicity of conditions and urban situations including, vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-human interactions, cross-sides, turn-around, roundabouts and different traffic conditions. Data from these scenarios are timestamped, calibrated and acquired at 10 to 200 Hz by through a set of heterogeneous sensors installed in a roof of a car. These sensors include a 3D LIDAR, high-resolution color cameras, a high-precision IMU and a GPS navigation system. In addition, positioning information obtained from a real-time kinematic satellite navigation system (with 0.05m of error) is also included as ground-truth. Moreover, a benchmarking process for some typical methods for visual odometry and SLAM is also included in this research, where qualitative and quantitative performance indicators are used to discuss the advantages and particularities of each implementation. Thus, this research fosters new advances on the perception and navigation approaches of autonomous robots (and driving).
