Abstract
Accessibility is one of the key measures of urban transportation planning, which quantify how easy is the access to a facility. Public transport accessibility concerns of the access level of geographical locations to public transport. In this paper, accessibility is used as an indicator to estimate social exclusion based on the maximum distance that someone has to walk to reach the public transport. The concept of the 6-minute walking distance (6MWD) is applied to measure accurately the walking ability for different groups of the population. A real life case study is conducted to get insight into the transportation network of the Porto Metropolitan Area, Portugal. For this purpose, geographic, demographic and infrastructure data were collected and integrated. Also, webservices are used to measure walking distances between locations. The results of this study allowed to characterize regions by different levels of accessibility, providing insight into the social exclusion in public transport. This assessment is used not only to identify inequities but also to get an overview of the service quality of public transport. © 2020 The Authors. Published by ELSEVIER B.V.

Abstract
Collaborative Filtering (CF) has become the standard approach to solve recommendation systems problems. Collaborative Filtering algorithms try to make predictions about interests of a user by collecting the personal interests from multiple users. There are multiple CF algorithms, each one of them with its own biases. It is the Machine Learning practitioner that has to choose the best algorithm for each task beforehand. In Recommender Systems, different algorithms have different performance for different users within the same dataset. Meta Learning has been used to choose the best algorithm for a given problem. Meta Learning is usually applied to select algorithms for a whole dataset. Adapting it to select the to the algorithm for a single user in a RS involves several challenges. The most important is the design of the metafeatures which, in typical meta learning, characterize datasets while here, they must characterize a single user. This work presents a new meta-learning based framework named µ-cf2vec to select the best algorithm for each user. We propose using Representation Learning techniques to extract the metafeatures. Representation Learning tries to extract representations that can be reused in other learning tasks. In this work we also implement the framework using different RL techniques to evaluate which one can be more useful to solve this task. In the meta level, the meta learning model will use the metafeatures to extract knowledge that will be used to predict the best algorithm for each user. We evaluated an implementation of this framework using MovieLens 20M dataset. Our implementation achieved consistent gains in the meta level, however, in the base level we only achieved marginal gains. © 2020 IEEE.

Abstract
Many aspects of life are associated with places of human mobility patterns and nowadays we are facing an increase in the pervasiveness of mobile devices these individuals carry. Positioning technologies that serve these devices such as the cellular antenna (GSM networks), global navigation satellite systems (GPS), and more recently the WiFi positioning system (WPS) provide large amounts of spatio-temporal data in a continuous way. Therefore, detecting significant places and the frequency of movements between them is fundamental to understand human behavior. In this paper, we propose a method for discovering user habits without any a priori or external knowledge by introducing a density-based clustering for spatio-temporal data to identify meaningful places and by applying a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) over the set of meaningful places to identify the representations of individual habits. To evaluate the proposed method we use two real-world datasets. One dataset contains high-density GPS data and the other one contains GSM mobile phone data in a coarse representation. The results show that the proposed method is suitable for this task as many unique habits were identified. This can be used for understanding users' behavior and to draw their characterizing profiles having a panorama of the mobility patterns from the data.
