Modeling, simulation and optimization
This project deals with the concept of inviting in-store customers for delivering parcels, on their way home, ordered by on-line customers. In addition, the company must maintain a backup of professionals for delivering the remaining parcels, optimized by a vehicle routing problem. This approach will reduce environmental impacts and urban congestion at low marginal cost to the company. This project concerns the development of models and tools for solving this problem, which turns out to be a very challenging stochastic combinatorial optimization problem. PhD in Computer Science, Operational Research or similar area.
Minimum profile required
Candidates must:1. Have implemented software for optimization and/or machine learning;2. Have published in top-level journals, with optimization and/or machine learning models developed in areas related to vehicle routing;3. Have a proven background in advanced operational research methods;4. Good programming skills.
Experience with simulation and optimization problems.
