Automatic counting of insects in trap images using Deep Learning

Work description
This work intends to develop a system capable of performing automatic counting of insects in trap images using deep learning. For this you will need: - Research state-of-the-art methods for segmenting traps in images and for counting insects present in them; - Organize a database, based on the images provided by the mySense platform and identify public databases with images of insect traps that allow better testing and evaluation of the methods to be developed; - Implement state-of-the-art deep learning methods for automatic segmentation of traps and for counting the insects present in them.
Academic Qualifications
Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, geosciences or similar
Minimum profile required
Candidates must have a degree in informatics, electrical engineering, geosciences or similar and be attending a master's degree in one of these areas. Proficiency in English (spoken and written) will also be required.
Preference factors
Possibility of staying in Vila Real or, alternatively, being able to travel there at least twice a week.
