INESC TEC develops new models for electricity consumption forecasting

In partnership with Energy Institute of Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria, INESC TEC's Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES) developed new statistical and machine learning models for electricity consumption forecasting at the nodes of a transmission network, for one week ahead time horizon. The models will be used by Austrian Power Grid AG transmission system operator (TSO), in order to reduce operating costs, and improve security in terms of power system supply.

INESC TEC will demonstrate the potential of offshore hybrid energy

The efficient and effective use of offshore renewable energies is critical to meet the EU's goal of achieving zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The €45M European marine energy project EU-SCORES (European SCalable Offshore Renewable Energy Sources) will contribute to this goal by exploring the large-scale potential of solar, wind and offshore marine systems for the first time, through the installation of two demonstrations in Europe - one in Portugal and another in Belgium.

INESC TEC develops data processing applications for a more efficient management of low-voltage grids

INESC TEC's Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES) developed a computational application for estimating technical losses in low-voltage (LV) distribution grids, considering scenarios with different data availability. The technology, developed within the scope of the Grid2C - Local Grid Coordination & Control project, will help organising the LV grids according to technical losses, by comparing information collected by sensors at the substations.
