INESC TEC awarded with several accolades by the Portuguese Robotics Society

The ICARSC'2020 conference - 20th IEEE International Conference on Autonomous Robot Systems and Competitions - awarded several works developed in the field of robotics in 2019. The researchers from INESC TEC's Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) received three awards: “SPR Award for Innovation and Technology Transfer in Robotics”, honourable mention in the “SPR Award for the Best National Master’s Thesis in Robotics” and the first prize of the “Industrial Robot journal Best Paper Award”.

INESC TEC will develop an autonomous robot to disinfect hospitals

RADAR – an Autonomous Robot for Disinfection at Hospitals - is one of INESC TEC's projects approved by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) within the scope of the exclusive line of financing to address the Covid-19 pandemic. The autonomous robot developed by the Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) will help disinfecting rooms at hospital units, through sensors and UV lamps.

CPPS 101 - Cyber Physical Production Systems 101 - is the name of the project that aims to improve the knowledge about cyber-physical production systems (CPPS) and smart manufacturing. Launch of European project aiming to facilitate the integration of robots and extended reality systems

The kick-off online meeting of the Mirrorlabs project took place on March 24. This project aims to create a software architecture that facilitates the integration of virtual and augmented reality and robots. INESC TEC is one of the project’s partners, through the Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) and the Centre for Enterprise Engineering Systems (CESE).

INESC TEC coordinates the TRUST-AI project

To bridge the gap between the analytical expressions derived from theory and the numerical models obtained with Machine Learning, towards the development of a novel paradigm and the creation of a tool that aims to address setbacks in different sectors, thus contributing to an innovative ecosystem focused on said paradigm. These are the fundamental objectives of the European project TRUST-AI – Transparent, Reliable and Unbiased Smart Tool for Artificial Intelligence, which will start in October 2020, with a funding of approximately €4M.

In 2017, almost 8 million people worldwide used car sharing as a means of transportation. Studies indicate that this number will increase five times by 2025[1]. In Portugal, there are three companies providing this service, all of them headquartered in Lisbon; they comprehend a fleet of 400 vehicles, which, compared to other European cities, represents a relatively low offer.

INESC TEC leads the first European centre to test robots at offshore wind farms.

The first European centre for the real-time testing of marine robots is led by INESC TEC. The Atlantis Teste Center will be set up in Viana do Castelo and enable the validation of robotic solutions in the most extreme weather conditions of the Atlantic Ocean, namely concerning the assessment and maintenance of offshore wind infrastructures.

INESC TEC solution for the media tested at Porto Canal

The tools developed by INESC TEC within the framework of the CHIC project – Cooperative Holistic View on Internet and Content were recently tested at PortoCanal. This was one of the 10 pilot-tests contemplated by the project, named Consumer-oriented and cloud-based TV production and distribution with decentralised inputs.
