On January 29, INESC TEC presented the last works developed under the “Industry 4.0 Cyber-Physical Production Systems” and the “Extended Collaborative Platform for the Footwear Industry“. Alongside the partners of the FAMEST project, the Institute demonstrated the potential of integrating i4.0 technologies in the operations and monitoring of footwear production.

In 2017, almost 8 million people worldwide used car sharing as a means of transportation. Studies indicate that this number will increase five times by 2025. In Portugal, there are three companies providing this service, all of them headquartered in Lisbon; they comprehend a fleet of 400 vehicles, which, compared to other European cities, represents a relatively low offer.

The first European centre for the real-time testing of marine robots is led by INESC TEC. The Atlantis Teste Center will be set up in Viana do Castelo and enable the validation of robotic solutions in the most extreme weather conditions of the Atlantic Ocean, namely concerning the assessment and maintenance of offshore wind infrastructures.

The tools developed by INESC TEC within the framework of the CHIC project – Cooperative Holistic View on Internet and Content were recently tested at PortoCanal. This was one of the 10 pilot-tests contemplated by the project, named Consumer-oriented and cloud-based TV production and distribution with decentralised inputs.

During the final event of the NEXT-NET project, held in Brussels on December 17, INESC TEC presented the recommendations for supply chains in 2030. The recommendations are some of the outcomes of the project, which began in October 2017 and whose focus was increasing the production/distribution integration of supply chains, through a multisector and technological initiative aimed at defining research and innovation priorities for the future.

INESC TEC participated in the Science and Technology Week of 2019, promoted at a national level by Ciência Viva, offering a visit to the Industry and Innovation Laboratory (iiLab) on 29 November. The event, which was targeted towards the general public and that was conducted by researchers Cláudia Rocha and Narciso Sobral, was attended by children and adults who showed enthusiasm and curiosity for the robotics area.

The goal of the «Digital Agro-food & Forestry (r)evolution» congress, held on 12 and 13 December at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), was to address the technology and innovation in the development of the agri-food and forestry sectors, in an event jointly organised by CITAB (Centre for the Research and Technology of Agro-Environmental and Biological Sciences) and INESC TEC.
