The ranking, published in the article “Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators” (Ioannidis, J.P.A., Baas, J., Boyack, K.W.), and available on the Public Library of Science Biology (PLOS Biology), relies on more precise standardized citation indicators (from Scopus, the largest online database of abstracts and citations from peer-reviewed literature), thus allowing to assess the impact and influence of a certain scientist or institution on the progress of scientific knowledge. This ranking is the result of a thorough research data analysis, from the 1990s to 2019.

The researchers mentioned in this news piece are associated with INESC TEC, UP-FEUP, UP-FEP and UP-FCUP.
