INESC TEC researcher reaches third place in the Computer Sciences ranking in Portugal

João Gama, researcher at INESC TEC’s Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Laboratory (LIAAD), reached the third place in the Computer Sciences ranking in Portugal, part of sixth edition of the world ranking of best scientists in the field of Computer Sciences in 2020, promoted by Guide2Research.

15th June 2020

Among the 13 entries, João Gama occupies the third place among Portuguese scientists who stand out for their scientific and academic background. “This distinction is an incredible honour! It was only possible thanks the excellence of my students and collaborators. Having a high rank is definitely a great achievement. Moreover, it honours the University of Porto and INESC TEC”, said João Gama.

The ranking is based on the Google Scholar h-index – and only scientists with an h-index equal to or higher than 40 were considered. The number of citations, as well as the number of publications indexed in the DBLP are other key factors for said ranking, which also took into account the awards and distinctions of each scientist.

This ranking aims to improve the academic community’s visibility and disseminate the most influential contributions in the area of Computer Science.

The INESC TEC researcher mentioned in this news piece is associated with INESC TEC and UP-FEP.
