INESC TEC participated in the fifth edition of AgroIN 2018, an annual Management event for the Agribusiness sector, organized by IFE Portugal and the magazine Vida Rural, which took place at the Estoril Congress Center on 18 April. The theme of this edition was “Sustainability pays off”.

INESC TEC was represented by Filipe Neves dos Santos, researcher from the Centre for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) with the presentation “Como usar a tecnologia para potenciar a agricultura sustentável?” (“How to use technology to enhance the sustainable agriculture?” in English). This presentation managed to give some examples of how intelligent agriculture can be an ally in the strategy for sustainability, such as a modular and cooperative robot for Douro vineyards, robotics in the forest, sensors to control the efficiency in the use of water, nutrients and agrochemicals in greenhouses, among others, with presentation of the projects ROMOVI, SMARTFARMING, Sistema DPA and Agrinupes, respectively.

The AgroIn conference aims at gathering different leaders and agents of the sector to discuss ideas and strategies, challenges and opportunities, planning, implementation and control. Other important topics of this debate are the profitability and optimisation, marketing and logistics, incentives and funding, internal and external market.

The event is aimed at agricultural entrepreneurs and agro-industrial companies, managers of agricultural holding, producer organisations and investors.
