The Azores Digital Innovation Hub will act as central point to the economy in Azores, in order to dinamise and accelerate the digital transformation process, through a clear focus on digital technologies and the companies providing tourism services - according to a sustainable tourism approach in the islands.

Located in the current facilities of Nonagon - São Miguel Science and Technology Park, the Azores Digital Innovation Hub will invest in the development and/or use of new products and services based on digital technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, High Performance Computing or Cybersecurity.

According to José Carlos Caldeira, member of INESC TEC Board of Directors, the institution's participation as a strategic partner will “support the development of the DIH, mainly through our skills and more than 30 years of experience in the digitalisation of sectors and companies”.

This initiative also aims to promote the collaboration between companies, academic and research institutions, as well as public entities, which can contribute to the digital transformation.

The Nonagon Association and the Regional Fund for Science established the consortium of the Azores DIH - as promoting entities - with the support of Ponta Delgada's Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the official founding partners.

The strategic partners of the Azores DIH include the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC), the Portuguese National Cybersecurity Centre, the Business Association for Innovation (COTEC Portugal), the Tourism Innovation Centre (NEST), the Laboratório Colaborativo em Transformação Digital Association (DTx), the Canary Island Digital Innovation Hub, Ubiwhere - Research and Development Software Company and Altice Labs.
