INESC TEC participates in the European Researchers’ Night 2019

On 27 September, INESC TEC will participate in the European Researchers’ Night, with a presentation conducted by Carlos Almeida, researcher of the Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CRAS), on the European project UNEXMIN – Exploration and mapping of flooded mines with robots.

24th September 2019

This ScienceTalk is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at the Multimeios Centre of Espinho.

Carlos Almeida will present the robotic technologies of this project that were developed at INESCTEC, which allowed the mapping of flooded underground mines. Some results obtained from several mines in Europe will also be presented, some of them with over 100 years old and 500 metres of depth, of which there was no geological or cartographic information.

Science Talk is one of the activities of ScienceWars, the title of the event that will be held in Porto, within the scope of the European Researchers’ Night. Throughout this event, which will take place at the Multimeios Centre of Espinho on 27 September and at the Serralves Foundation on 28 and 29 September, participants will be encouraged to not only interact with researchers from different scientific areas, but also to become researchers for a day. Experiences, workshops, competitions, networking, conferences, shows and animation are part of the Science Wars programme.

INOVA + organised this event, which is open to the public free of charge.

The European Researchers’ Night is an initiative promoted by the European Commission since 2005 with the aim of celebrating science and bringing it closer to the citizens. It takes place simultaneously in over 30 countries and 300 cities across Europe.

The researcher mentioned in this news piece is associated with INESC TEC.
