INESC TEC participates in an international conference on the reliable distributed systems area

A team of researchers of INESC TEC’s High-Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab) participated at the 38th International Symposium on Reliable Distributed Systems (SRDS 2019), which took place in Lyon, France, from 1 to 4 October, presenting four scientific papers and organising a workshop, among other tasks.

13th November 2019

INESC TEC was represented in SRDS 2019 by Tânia Esteves, Ricardo Macedo,  João Paulo, Carlos Baquero and José Pereira, HASLab’s researchers, alongside Rui Oliveira, also a researcher of the same centre and a member of INESC TEC’ Board.

When it comes to the presentation of scientific articles, the papers entitled “d’Artagnan: a Trusted NoSQL Database on Untrusted Clouds” and “BISEN: Efficient Boolean Searchable Symmetric Encryption with Verifiability and Minimal Leakage” were presented at the “Database Management Systems” session, which was held on the first day of this international conference.

The papers “A Case for Dynamically Programmable Storage Background Tasks” and “TrustFS: An SGX-enabled Stackable File System Framework” were presented within the scope of one of the four workshops of SRDS 2019, in particular, in the “1st Workshop on Distributed and Reliable Storage Systems (DRSS’19). It should also be noted that these two papers were also selected for the SRDS 2019’s poster session.

Regarding the team’s participation in the workshops, Carlos Baquero chaired a Keynote Talk entitled “Efficient Synchronization of State-based CRDTs” within the scope of the “5th Workshop on Planetary-Scale Distributed Systems (W-PSDS)” and João Paulo was involved in the organisation of the “1st workshop on Distributed and Reliable Storage Systems (DRSS’19). José Pereira was one of the people responsible for the SRDS 2019’s Program Committee and Rui Oliveira is one of the members of the Steering Committee of that same conference.

SRDS 2019, which is co-sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society, is an international conference that gathers researchers and industry professionals who are interested in the design, development and evaluation of distributed systems, with an emphasis on reliability, availability and security.
