INESC TEC co-organises an event to demonstrate the European test platform Fed4FIRE+

INESC TEC demonstrated the potential of the Fed4FIRE+ test platform in the validation of new wireless communication solutions, developed within the scope of R&D projects, and Master’s/PhD theses. This was one of the presentations of the event Fed4FIRE+ – Porto Road Show, which took place on February 18, at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP).

The first Fed4FIRE+ Roadshow, co-organised by INESC TEC/FEUP and the Interuniversity Microelectronics Center (IMEC), a Belgian research institution coordinated by the Fed4FIRE+ project, aimed to disseminate the free and open access experimentation platform among the Portuguese academic and industrial community. This platform, provided by the consortium, enables the academic world and companies to validate new solutions in the fields of Wireless Communications, Clouds, IoT, Big Data and Machine Learning.

Under the EU Horizon 2020 Programme, Fed4FIRE+ is the project that brings together the world’s largest consortium of  New Generation Internet (NGI) testbeds, thus offering open, accessible and reliable facilities to support a wide variety of research fields in Europe, including the Public-Private Partnership for 5G (5G PPP).

The session had 70 participants and included several presentations. IMEC demonstrated the experimentation platform developed within the project, with tutorials focused on the areas of cloud and wired networking, IoT, wireless experimentation, Big Data and Machine Learning.

The Fed4FIRE+ – Porto Road Show also included two testimonials on the participation in the project: one from the company Allbesmart and the other from INESC TEC’s Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (CTM), which proved the added value of the testing platform in the validation of solutions.
