INESC TEC co-organised workshop on Artificial Intelligence applied to software testing

INESC TEC co-organised the workshop AIST 2021 – International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Software Testing, within the scope of the IEEE International Conference on Software Testing (ICST2021), dedicated to AI in software testing. The event took place online, on April 12, with more than 20 participants.

07th May 2021

The AIST workshop aimed to bring together researchers and industry actors to present, discuss and promote collaboration in research and development, focused on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in software testing, coined by the multiplicity of topics observed under the AI umbrella.

AI can transform the way software testing is performed, by automating the process of creating and applying tests, and producing more efficient tests, thereby contributing to a reduction in associated costs and to the production of more reliable software.

The first edition “promoted the discussion and sharing of innovative ideas between researchers and professionals from different areas. The works presented show that AI has already started to transform the software testing process in several domains”, said Alexandra Mendes.

The event featured a keynote talk by Gregory Gay (Chalmers University of Gothenburg), and the presentation of six scientific articles, reviewed by at least three members of the Program Committee.

The team responsible for organising the event included Alexandra Mendes, researcher at INESC TEC’s High-Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab), and Nuno Pombo, both from the University of Beira Interior.
