Follow the results of the research “Diaries of a Pandemic”

In order to understand the dynamics of citizens' adaptation to the COVID-19 pandemic in Portugal, the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto (ISPUP) and the Institute for Systems and Computers Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC) launched the initiative "Diaries of a Pandemic", in partnership with the newspaper PÚBLICO.

The study began on March 23, and citizens are invited to answer a set of questions on a daily basis, which will help understanding the evolution in the lives of the Portuguese people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Results from May 1 to 18, 2020

From May 1 to May 18, 5.085 participants answered questions about the intention to do diagnostic tests (swab virus search) and immunity tests (antibody detection).

Results from March 23 to May 10, 2020

From March 23 to May 10, 13.517 individuals participated in the study, who answered more than 200 thousand questionnaires. The analysis focused on the evolution of the life of the Portuguese, during and after the state of national emergency, in the context of the pandemic of COVID-19.

Results from March 23 to April 21, 2020

From March 23 to April 21, 11.125 individuals participated in the study, who answered 127.744 questionnaires. The analysis focused on testing to detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Results from March 23 to April 8, 2020

From March 23 to April 8, 10.391 people, aged between 16 and 89, participated in the study, who answered 7.617 questionnaires. The analysis focused on the use of health care in the context of COVID-19.

Results from March 23 to March 30, 2020

During the first week, 6.791 people participated in the study, representing 23.254 surveys. These citizens, aged between 16 and 89 years old, told us how they act according to a set of situations that may influence the course of the epidemic in Portugal.
