DIGITAL-CER – INESC TEC and CAPWATT establish a partnership to develop a digital platform for managing renewable energy communities
Capwatt and the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC) are developing the DIGITAL-CER project.
10th November 2021
Capwatt and the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC) are developing the DIGITAL-CER project, a P2020 – Co-Promotion R&D Project, which aims to explore, develop, and demonstrate an innovative digital platform towards planning and managing Renewable Energy Communities (RES) in private or public electric grids, made up exclusively of members of the industry and business sectors.
In order to demonstrate and validate the technologies and the CER model, both entities will implement a pilot-project at Sonae's Corporate Business Park. The resilience of the project will also be analysed, considering the coordinated operation with high-efficiency energy storage and cogeneration systems existing in the industry.
This project will boost the exploration of renewable energies to produce green electricity, thus enhancing the global commitment to decarbonisation and development of a sustainable economy at the local community level, with social, environmental and economic benefits.
Capwatt is a company part of the Sonae Capital Group, created in 2008, which promotes integrated energy solutions, maximising the synergies between decentralised generation, service provision and energy commercialisation, satisfying the energy needs of customers, while focusing on energy efficiency and sustainability. The company is present in several regions and invests strongly in innovation, in order to contribute to the promotion of a sustainable energy paradigm and to generate value for the various stakeholders.
